Tuesday Writing Prompt – Raising young ones

Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

Today’s prompt: Write a poem that uses the words negative, balance, and erosion.

Negative criticism undercuts their confidence
You need to nurture their fledging and tender growth
Even when you correct them never be brutal and direct
For some messages can cause erosion of their self esteem
Raising young ones need a delicate balance between
Being just and kind
And wise and understanding

Tuesday Writing Prompt & Lynn’s Tuesday Picture Prompt # 47

Glen is the host of LTPP and Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

Art(including pictures and images)should evoke an emotional response in those who are viewing them. That’s why art can leave such a long-lasting and poignant imprint within the depths of our psyche

Your challenge or writing prompt is this:

  • what emotions or feelings get evoked or aroused in you when you look at this photograph taken by Lynn

Remember, the goal isn’t necessarily to tell me and others exactly what the picture is.

The creative goal for all of us is “what does the picture evoke in youwhat emotion; feeling; memory or whatever it may be – what does it arouse in you and to share it that with others.

Our Week 47 picture is a slow shutter speed capture of a section of “Little High Falls” in Bracebridge, Ontario.

♾♾♾

Before this moment it touched a million surfaces

Now reaching its destination it cascades in so many falls

Water

It has been everywhere and has seen everything

It passes no judgments, it condemns no one

A silent spectator, a neutral observer

It gives life, it grows life it IS life

But we recklessly waste it, pollute it, contaminate it

It’s time to give respect to this life giving nectar

♾♾♾

Today’s prompt: Write a poem that starts with before this moment

Tuesday Writing Prompt- Justice and Equality

Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

Today’s prompt: Write a poem on justice and equality.

♾♾♾

There can be no justice, nor any illusion of justice

If all are not treated equally, without prejudice

“A society that is cruel can survive but not a society which is unjust”

The Lofty ideals we aspire to would crumble like dust

If our treatment of each and every citizen is not equal

The law, the rules, the way everyone is treated

Has to be meted our without favor or prejudice

Tuesday Writing Prompt- Rain drops of my heart

Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

Prompt: “Raindrops of my heart”

♾♾♾♾

Raindrops of my heart fall from my eyes

Cascading down my cheeks cleansing my soul

Washing the grime of ages with their pureness

Making it clean and new once again

Returning the innocence of my naive youth

Our Week 40 picture is pretty much as it appears. A traffic signal light attached to a tree in the forest.

♾♾♾

It was on my brisk walk in the forest

That I passed by this empty house

An unusual sight met my bemused eyes

I saw a traffic light affixed to a tree in the yard

And to my further amazement, it was blinking red, amber, and green

The critters waiting to cross the driveway

Would wait on red and cross on green

I was sure that no one would believe it when I told them

How can it be, they’d say, bring someone to corroborate

I was alone, on a solo walk, I’ll tell them

Nobody else was a witness to this unusual situation

♾♾♾

Tuesday Writing Prompt

Today’s prompt: Write a poem about an empty house. Use the words brisk and solo.

Tuesday Writing Prompt- Where?

Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

Today’s prompt: Tell me what your favorite place to be is without naming the exact place.

♾♾♾

Comfort is the first priority

Soft and cushy seating a must

Lighting not too dim or glaring

Some music or white noise in the background

I love to be here, where I can relax

Write or read or just be at ease

Tuesday Writing Prompt ;

Prompt: Use the phrase “a midnight sigh” in a poem or piece of prose

➰➰➰

They stood motionless at the foggy beach

Like a midnight sigh waiting to be exhaled

Their disembodied figures, floating weightlessly

Each carrying its burdens, each engrossed in its own troubles

At a glance, you may say they were very similar

But deep down each was fighting their own battles

Like a midnight sigh, heavy on the heart

Maybe all waiting for someone to save them!

Our Week 33 picture is again, pretty much what it shows. An old wooden gate found along the Bruce Trail in the Beaver Valley area of Ontario.

➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰

Gates open to the pasture beyond

I could escape if I did so wanted

I stand indecisive, irresolute by it

My mind is under the stress of a

Blizzard of thoughts, of what was

What could have been and what is

Possibilities and chances lost to time

I would’ve escaped my past if I could

But it rides on the shoulders of my conscience

I cannot escape until I lay down this burden

The Cosmos held in my right hand

Time swirling in infinite waves

The end and the beginning joined

One following the other in an endless loop

The secret hides in a tiny drop of wisdom

Dive deep into the depth of cavern of soul

Bathe in the brightness of joy and enlightenment

As she raised her eyelids, I was lost in her beautiful black eyes

The sun had broken through after the cold winter rain

I could feel the warmth of the rainbow colored sunlight

Filtering through the chink in between the curtains

It warmed my heart to hold her close and comfort her

The storm outside had subsided but the tempest

Raging in her heart still had her in its grip

I wished I could gift her all the happiness in the world

And take away her sorrows into my own soul
