“Lockdown Limbo”

Q.1

How long have you personally been in lockdown – when was the last times you were out and about and will you automatically return to your life post-lockdown?

I have been in lockdown since 15th March. But I am out and about every day. Twice a day for my daily walks.

The last part of the question is a bit tricky. I think life will return to normal for me but with some added precautions. Like not going where there are too many people, avoiding handshakes, hugs, and generally being more careful.

Q.2

Are you happy with your progress so far and your ability to stay sane? [Alternative question – When did you pass Go on the Insane journey – how is that going for you?]

Luckily, my life is quite busy and that is keeping me sane and grounded. I am the sort of person who will stay level headed in most situations! So happy to be in a place where I am needed and feel productive.

Q.3

Have you started a new hobby?

Homeschooling!

If you can call out a hobby!

When was the last time you talked to the toilet? [No to the toilet not in the toilet]

Nopes! And no talking in the toilet either. When three people share one bathroom, it doesn’t leave you the luxury to stay there long and have conversations, with it or in it!

If you share the house with others – either animal or human – how is the extended home time coming along with loved ones?

I am sharing my space with my daughter and my grandson. It’s going very well. There obviously would be times when a little stress is felt, but I laugh it off and things go back to normal.

“Age Old Questions”

Q.1

As you have aged have you noticed that you have become more or less tolerant as a person?

Older people are more cranky! That said I am usually level headed but there are times when I am ready to blow up. You know what I find hard to swallow?

Blatant stupidity! Intentionally doing things you know are going to blow up in your face.

But as compared to my younger days, I think I am more tolerant.

Q.2

As you have aged have you become more so or less so – happier?

Definitely more!

Living through the ups and downs of life, I have learned that my happiness depends on;

• Me;

No one can or should make me happy but me. I shouldn’t look towards others to be happy. It is my choice and my own frame of mind which can help me achieve this state.

• Find joy in small things;

The best way to have a good life is to be mindful of the blessings we have in our lives. And find joy and peace in them.

• Happiness is overrated;

The happily-ever-after concept has soured many lives. No one can be happy all the time. We should look for peace and contentment instead. They are better goals and more achievable.

Q.3

Do you think we live in a time of ageism?

We do!

But if we don’t let the opinion of others affect us, we are good. The fact that people are drumming ready-made ideas and concepts into our minds has to be deflected. The comment, ” you don’t look your age ” or ” you should/ shouldn’t be doing this at your age ” they are rubbish and should be thrown in the bin.

Do you think that the whole ageing process is still considered a taboo subject?

There is nothing taboo about age. There are just two ways we can exist.

We can die young

Or we can live and age every day!

Do you think that as we age we become wiser or dumber?

It’s a choice!

We can do what we choose. Some people use their life experience to learn and grow wiser and some just ignore it and keep on making the same mistakes over and over again. But if it doesn’t matter to them then why should it bother us.

Live and let live!

“What’s Your Therapy?”

~*~

Q 1• Have you ever thought of starting a journal – as in NOT by computer – but by hand – like an old fashioned written one?

I have thought about keeping a written journal but it is too much work. Besides who will read them. I would rather write online on my blog. And when I will die, my words will die with me.

It sounds dramatic but I feel that my words have value and meaning till I am alive. I am no Shakespeare who’s words are still being revered till now.

Q 2• How are you guys handling lockdown? Have any of you done the TikTok challenges? I don’t even know how you record it! What other interesting things are you doing? If you have some new ideas, please share!

No idea what a tic-tok is. I am doing something important, I am overseeing homeschooling of my grandson while my daughter is doing her thesis. So I am busier than I was before the lockdown. Blogging takes up the rest of the time. So I don’t have much time to waste. Though the “Happy coloring app” is a good way to unwind. Also, I have bought a few of Paula’s books and am reading one of them. Reading is both fun and enlightening and it uses up any free time I may have.

Q 3•What is your personal wellbeing or mindful therapy for keeping boredom at bay during this time of  … ‘reflection?’

That would be my daily walks! In the morning I take a walk with my grandson before we settle for school. He tells me how to play Minecraft and how he plans to overcome challenges in his game. It really is a fun time for us both. I take two more walks while listening to music, taking pictures with my phone and reflecting on life. I also use my walking time to have long chats with my husband and kids back home.

•Have you ever thought of creating a Vision Board?

Nopes! What is a vision board? 😀

•What have you discovered about yourself during this time ?

That I am probably better off in isolation. I am not buying stuff that I don’t need!

Well joking aside, I think that I do miss meeting people but it’s fine because it’s for all our well-being.

Take care and stay safe.

Pictures were taken today during my walk.

“Ride Em, Hobby Em!”

Q.1

Do you have any hobbies, activities or past times that keep you busy daily or weekly?

I have a lot of things that keep me busy. Blogging takes the largest chunk of time. And as far as its benefits are concerned it’s second only to meditation. Then there is reading. I don’t read much these days, as in books. But I read plenty of blog posts. I also play online games and do coloring.

Q.2

Have any of your current hobbies been with you since you were a youngster?

Blogging is quite recent. But the love of reading is been with me since I discovered books. I am lucky because I grew up in an environment where reading was encouraged. My father, grandfather, uncles, and aunts were all avid readers and we used to share and exchange books. In my younger days, before my knees gave up on me, I used to love gardening too. But not anymore as I cannot sit, bending my knees.

Q.3

Why do you think people need to have ‘hobbies?’

Young people are usually too busy with life these days to develop hobbies but as people grow older they find spare time on their hands. Hobbies keep them healthy both in body and mind. There is no chance of being bored as one has a fallback, the hobby.

How long do you spend weekly with your hobby?

About six or so hours daily, so it would make stopping 36- 40 hours weekly, if I spend less time on the weekends.

Are there hobbies you currently don’t do but would like to?

I would love to try painting, ( the actual kind, with brush and canvas), knitting, sowing! But I am too busy with my blog to spend time on other activities. Maybe one day.
