Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

This week my question is;

Bugs; Do you love, hate or tolerate them?

The summer season brings bugs with it. I don’t mind the flies and mosquitoes as long as they stay outside the house but when they invade the inner sanctum, so to say, they become pests to be gotten rid of.

Similarly, other crawling insects like cockroaches and spiders aren’t welcome inside either. When we moved into this home, we used a bug exterminator who guaranteed 5 years bug-free home. Now that it is a bit more than 5 years, I can see a few of the crawlies here and there. But for complete fumigation, one has to leave the premises for at least a couple of days so that is a difficult option right now.

What about you, do you tolerate these insects/ bugs or hate them? What steps up take to keep your home bug free?

Sunday Poser # 85-Father’s Day Special

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

This week my question is;

What is the most precious memory of your dad?

Today is Father’s Day.

As I’ve mentioned in my previous posts, my father was a very caring parent who was both a mother and a father to us all. One thing that I always remember is that he would sit by my side at night when I was ill. He would keep an eye on the symptoms and administer medicines when needed. Even in my late thirties when I needed surgery for the removal of my meniscus in my right knee, it was him who stayed with me in the hospital, sleeping on the bench provided by them for attendants while my husband stayed home with our three kids.

He showed me the kindness which is mostly associated with a mother. I could always talk to him regarding my problems and he gave me sage advice. He always believed in me and encouraged me to be the very best version of myself.

May he Rest In Peace.

So please share what is your most cherished memory of your dad or someone who was like a dad to you?

This week my question is;

Do you love going to the beach/ seaside in summer?

Summer time is when people flock to the beaches to enjoy the sea in large numbers. Unfortunately, I live very far from the sea so visiting the beach in any season is not easy for me.

I’ve only visited our southern seaside city Karachi twice in my entire life, and both times it was in summer. There is something special about the sea in summer! Perhaps the cool water eases the heated up bodies or just the presence of the grey blue sea waves is enough to give us a taste of summer fun.

So what is your preference? Do you enjoy the sea in summer or more so in winter when the beaches are less crowded?

This week my question is;

Do you believe in second chances?

With experience, one learns that people always make mistakes and many deserve a second chance. We should also give ourselves a second chance too if we fail the first time.

A second chance maybe at finding happiness in life. It may be at finding your dream job or it could be going back to school to retry getting the qualifications you didn’t get the first time. Giving a second chance means you have to trust yourself and your judgment.

Would you give yourself a second chance or someone else? Are you willing to try again?9

This week my question is;

What is a life lesson you feel everyone can benefit from learning?

Life teaches us many lessons. Some are hard, others are easier. I think one lesson we all would benefit from is how it feels to experience unkindness. We never notice if we are being unjust, unfair or unkind to others until it happens to us. That is an eye-opening moment and at that moment we realize how it really feels when others are unkind. And we also realize how essential it is to be kind, to be fair and thoughtful.

First-hand experience has no equal. When we are at the receiving end we know exactly what it feels like. So in my opinion this is one lesson we all will benefit from learning!

What in your view is the one thing that life teaches us that can improve us?

This week my question is;

When you use a quote, what’s more important; who said it? Or what did they say?

For myself, the words are more important than who said them. Sometimes I even don’t know the one who’s quote I’m using, which can be a disadvantage because they may not have a stellar reputation.

But the words/ quotes that move me are always more important when I select a quote to use.

What about you? Does the quote itself is more important or you look for a person who can inspire others and use their words?

This week my question is;

How truthful are you?

To be honest, not many would admit to telling lies/fibs. But we all do. It’s either to save our skin/dignity or to save others from being hurt or humiliated.

I do tell fibs when I think an honest opinion will hurt someone’s feelings. Or sometimes I do it when I’ve forgotten to do something and don’t want to be scolded for it. But mostly my brain and tongue overtake my desire to be prudent and I blurt out the truth and sometimes it has even more dire consequences than telling the truth. Like saying something that would’ve better be left unsaid or telling others what I think about their dress, shoes, etc, and offending them.

What about you? Do you always tell the truth or can you tell a white lie to save the situation?

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser. Today is Mothers Day! A very happy Mother’s Day to all my friends who celebrate Mother’s Day.

This week my question is;

Do you celebrate Mother’s Day?

I never got to celebrate Mother’s Day with my own mother. She passed away when I was just a child. In my country, there was no concept of Mother’s Day before the start of 21st century. When all the people, especially the commercial organizations woke up to the potential for making money of these special days, they were promoted aggressively.

When my kids, especially my daughters reached the age of awareness, they did celebrate Mother’s Day and gave me special treats and presents. My son however seldom remembers to do so. But, though I feel that it’s a good idea to honor and pamper your mom on a special day, family is for ever and we should be kind and thoughtful towards them all year round.

Did you make a special effort to celebrate Mother’s Day with your mom? Did you take her out for a celebration meal or gave her gifts?

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

This week my question is;

What is a cause you’re passionate about and why?

We all have that one cause that we are passionate about. I feel throughly engaged when I feel someone needs my support. Justice is one thing that I feel is everyone’s right so injustice riles me up. So does the lack of support offered to those who need it like homeless people or those needing medical and financial help.

Right now due to my family commitments, I can only offer financial and moral support to the causes I believe in. But I hope to one day do something actively too. Like joining an organization to help people who are in need of help.

Meanwhile, I can write about these problems and raise awareness about them.

What is your passionate cause? Are you able to do something about it practically?

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

This week my question is;

In your opinion, how far can a person go for a loved one? Or what can they tolerate?

In a recent situation with a friend, I came across this question. What can people tolerate from those they love. Can they take abuse, gaslighting, and disrespect and still love that person?

For me the answer was simple. I think mistreatment kills the love and respect someone might have felt towards their abuser/partner/ spouse. In my opinion, love can only exist if there is mutual respect. I’ve not experienced the obsessive type of love which comes at all costs. Have you experienced such love or know someone who loves despite being mistreated or physically or/and mentally abused?

Another way to ask this question would be; Do people love another irrespective of how they are treated?
