So keen, I am

It is a golden opportunity to show

What I believe in and what I know

I am so keen to share my views

The extremely sensible person that I am

It is a question of my ideology that I want

To discuss in detail with you, if you’d listen

I am sure you won’t get bored by my speech

It’s just that I am so keen to share my views

(Some people KNOW what is best for everyone, LOL 😂)

Envious friend

She was a smart lady with a flourish for business. Her rise in the business world was a cause of envy among her contemporaries but Linda didn’t let these things bother her. Though it did hurt her when she learned that one of her friends was casting aspersions on her out of petty jealousy. She invited this friend of hers to lunch and asked her to get all the supposed grievances off her chest. An open hearted offer which should have made the “friend” ashamed of the feelings of envy that she was harboring in her heart, but instead she launched into a tirade of complains against Linda. They didn’t part as the friends that they were before and Linda was sorry to accept that her friend had a very grudging nature and couldn’t be happy in the success of a friend.

She even was generous enough to send her a bouquet of flowers from her flower boutique on her friend’s birthday. Gazing at which did bring a few thoughts of shame in her friend’s mind.

Coasting along

Coasting along the highway of life

I am thinking about the natural way

How we go through life without heeding

The basic values of the code of life laid down

By the experts of health and nutrition

Then we are aghast when things go south

The health is lost and in trying to recover it

We sometimes lose our wealth in the effort as well

There is a need to be venturesome to change

In adopting habits that promote health, we can win

Do you Condone?

Do you condone how the politicians act these days

Apparently they all are acting in our best interest

Saying things that most people want to hear

Reciting mantras to appease the public furor

Where there is nothing sincere in the mind of these characters

They love to wash the dirty laundry of others in public

Putting the blame of all the wrong doings on their opponents

Never a true word spoken or an emotion displayed from heart

They give us plenty of reasons to dislike and detest them so

All these corrupt politicians deserve is to be collared and thrown

To spend their days in the cells with criminals, whose ilk they are

Repentance

Articulating the apology, the eyes drenched with tears

The he is penitent and regretting his actions is a given

How can he undo the damage that his words have wrought

Can he go back and erase the thoughtless actions and words

He ask, but already know the answers

Once it’s out of your mouth, the words are carried on the winds

The actions once performed don’t get undone just by wishing

We need to get in contact with our inner self

And correct our approach towards others

Respect for all, no matter what is their opinion

And being careful when uttering our words

That might hurt others and cause deep scars

And each action weighed carefully before implementing

Can relieve our conscience of this burden of guilt

New Trampoline

The front door closed with a loud bang.” What a idiosyncratic lady she is” grumbling to herself, Amanda stowed away her bag and her jacket. It was the second time that her next door neighbor had stopped her to complain about her son, Harry. And wasn’t Harry’s fault that the other kids in the neighborhood wanted to play in their backyard on the weekend. They loved to use the trampoline Harry’s dad had gotten him for his birthday that year and the kids had a whale of a time, jumping and shouting loudly for the fun of it. Amanda often tried to tone down their exuberance but they were young kids and it was difficult to control their noise level. Now Mrs White had complain again about the noise the kids made and she, Amanda was angry about it. Not that there was a complaint, she understood that. But the fact that she had tried to explain the cause and also her inability to lower the decibel of the noise the kids made.

When Harry came home from school that day, she had a talk to him. Harry was a gentle natured boy, he didn’t want to annoy their neighbors but he didn’t have an answer to the issue either. “Mom, it helps us stretch our bodies and helps us grow ” he said in defense of his beloved trampoline. “Is there any way you guys can play without creating an absolute racket” she asked him. Now being a bright young man, an idea came to him which could solve their problem.

The next Saturday was bright and sunny. There was peace in the neighborhood and Mrs White had no more complains. The trampoline was shifted to the community center, and other kids besides Harry and his friends were enjoying it. In fact the upside of this move was that it made Amanda and her husband quiet popular with the families in their area.

Fool

Fool, what a fool I have been

Trusting you and look, what have you done in return

My fault it has been all along, I must admit freely

Have I not heard the adage concerning trusting

Fool me once shame on you

Fool me twice and shame on me”

So only a fool like me would have entrusted

A person like you as a keeper of my secrets

Who had already betrayed me once before

And has let me down without a bit of remorse

Fool what a great fool I have been all along

Dragons

Sometimes life leads you into a pickle

The problem seems like mountains that

We feel we cannot climb or conquer

The way ahead is a step backward

To view the situation from a new angle

The obstacles which look like dragons

Become tiny mice, easily jumped over

Dressed in the retro they pretend to be

A ghost from the dreaded past here to Jinx

Scare and dissuade, weaken your resolve

Be bold be strong and stand your ground

Riddles are solved, enigmas are deciphered

A step back and a new perspective is that’s required

Labyrinthine dialogue

His talk is labyrinthine, all convoluted and twisting

Turning inside out and then going backwards over again

It is a task to understand if he is say yes or if it is a nay

But than this is how politics is done or so I am told often

His scorn dipped words make my temper fly like a kite

Blaspheming every thing that I feel is sacred to many

He has the unenviable ability to make instant enemies

The righteous were thinking that their cause is being advocated

In reality the dishonest and the unethical are those prospering

The harbinger

There was a dove perched on the olive branch

She was the harbinger of peace, as they said

The sign that spring was near, the war at an end

We rejoice, celebrating this truth with a mendacity

When we don’t value this dedicated symbol of peace

Or are the words we utter just empty and meaningless

We embroil ourselves into a plethora of excuses

Never meaning to carry out what we promise to do

The inadequacy and insufficiency of our resolve

Hidden and camouflaged with bluster and bravado

The shameful lack of action should be humiliating
