Thursday Inspiration # 21- Fire

This week’s theme is fire and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Fire and Rain” recorded by James Taylor in 1970:

I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain
I’ve seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I’ve seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I’d see you again

Bonfire on the beach
Picture from the Happy Color app.

~*~*~

Stormy skies and water drenched earth

The fire cannot be lit in the rain

I wait for the storm to draw away

Its fury spent and the burden lightened

I find the spark to ignite the flame

In my heart I kindle the fire too

Maybe you will see the flames

And return back to my arms

Welcome to Thursday Inspiration!

This week’s theme is mystic and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Into the Mystic” recorded by Van Morrison in 1970:

I wanna rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
Then magnificently we will float
Into the mystic

Psychedelic ship
Picture from the Happy Color app.

~*~

The call of mystic is hard to resist

The allure of the unknown beckons

Deep are the mysteries of your love

Sometimes it intrigues and at others

It lifts me out of myself way high

Where I am even unaware of who I am

Thursday Inspiration #16

Thursday Inspiration, by Paula Light.

This week’s theme is letter and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Return to Sender” recorded by Elvis Presley in 1962:

We had a quarrel
A lover’s spat
I write I’m sorry
But my letter keeps coming back

Letter

Picture from the Happy Color app.

~*~*~*~

The letter was laying in her nightstand drawer

Many a time she opened it and then closed it again

She knew it was from him but was afraid

To read what he had written in there

There would be hard, unforgivable words

Which will break her heart once again

It is better to leave it unopened

There will be a day when she will be ready

But not today

Today she wanted to enjoy the illusion

That he still loved her as much as she did

Welcome to Thursday Inspiration!

This week’s theme is faded and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Traces” from Classics IV in 1969:

Faded photographs, covered now with lines and creases
Tickets torn in half, memories in bits and pieces
Traces of love, long ago, that didn’t work out right
Traces of love

~*~

Taking out the faded and creased picture

She glanced at it with love and nostalgia

Then with the same loving care she restored it

To that secret place in her heart where she kept

All her sacred memories, carefully hidden

Whatever new things life brings her way

She will always have a corner of her soul

Where these beautiful memories will live, always

Thursday Inspiration #16- Fair

Welcome to Thursday Inspiration!

This week’s theme is fair and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Scarborough Fair,” an old ballad most of us know from the Simon & Garfunkel version, but it has a fascinating history.

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
For once she was a true love of mine

Fair

It’s a song that’s always on my playlist. I love the soothing melody of the song. I never concentrated on the lyrics much. So now here is my interpretation of the Prompt.

I give you my love without conditions

But you are asking for something impossible in return

If just love is not enough, nothing would ever be

It would be better if we got off this ride

The fair is over, now one can just see the debris

Thursday Inspiration # 15

This week’s theme is melt and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “I Melt with You,” written and recorded by Modern English in 1982:

I’ll stop the world and melt with you
You’ve seen the difference and it’s getting better all the time
There’s nothing you and I won’t do
I’ll stop the world and melt with you

A glance from you melts my heart

Like chocolate melts in warm hands

Millable like putty I am

You can shape me or mold me

Into any shape that you desire

A look of entreaty and I am done

Despite my resolve I always give in

Thursday Inspiration # 14- Fragile

This week’s theme is fragile and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Leather and Lace,” written by Stevie Nicks in 1981 and sung by as a duet with Don Henley:

Is love so fragile and the heart so hollow
Shatter with words impossible to follow
You’re saying I’m fragile, try not to be
I search only for something I can’t see

Thursday Inspiration

Life is fragile
Can be over in seconds
So are our emotions
Which can blow up
Sky high at the least provocation
How we need to get a grip
let not the moods get the best of us
Cement the cracks with glue of sagacious thought
Let the emotions flutter in the wind
But not to totally blow us away

~~~~~~~~
Facing the waves crashing into the sea
I step on the ship holding on to my courage
The journey seems perilous and dangerous
Yet I have promises to keep and a risk I will take
Someone dear is waiting for me on the other side
If I don’t fulfill my pledge I will fail myself too
This promise is even more precious than my life
The prompt;
This week’s theme is sailing and this picture. Here is the song snippet from “Sailing,” written by Gavin Sutherland in 1972 (interestingly about spirituality not romance) and sung by Rod Stewart:
I am sailing
I am sailing
Home again
‘Cross the sea
I am sailing,
Stormy waters
To be near you,
To be free
Thursday Inspiration #12
This week’s theme is garden and this picture. Here is the song snippet from “Octopus’s Garden,” written by Richard Starkey in 1969:
I‘d like to be under the sea
In an octopus’ garden in the shade
He’d let us in, knows where we’ve been
In his octopus’ garden in the shade
Photo found on Pixabay
Gently swaying in the current of warm water
My underwater garden is something to behold
Instead of birds, I have fish swimming here
No birdsongs but the murmuring of the ocean
You can see the color of the coral and seaweeds
There is only one problem that you face here
The air is scarce here so bring your own oxygen
But I assure you there is plenty to amuse you
Look at these oysters with a beautiful display
Of lovely pearls, precious and unequal to anything
That can be found in any ordinary garden anywhere!
The samoon blows
Moving the dunes
Creating ripples in the sand
Just like waves in the ocean
If we could listen to the song
The song that the desert sings
A melody which tells us of all
That these ancient sands have seen
Over the centuries they have existed
What wonderful stories they would tell
The prompt;
This week’s theme is sand and the picture. Here is the song snippet from “Song of Sand,” written by Suzanne Vega in 1992:
If sand waves were sound waves
What song would be in the air now
What stinging tune
Could split this endless noon
And make the sky swell with rains
