Things I love in the month of February # 28 – Brother

Paula has asked us to share something we love, for each day of the month of February.

My # 28 choice of things I love is;

My brother

February 28th is my youngest brother’s birthday. He was born in a leap year and was saved from having a birthday every four years by mere hours.

He is ten years younger than me and I helped my stepmom in raising him. I think of him as I think of my own children and he is also very affectionate as well.

Happy birthday, brother!

Things I love in the month of February # 27 – My kindle

For my # 27 love, I choose;

My Kindle

I love reading and have lots and lots of books. When one is traveling a lot, carrying books is not easy. They weigh too much and take up lots of space.

Two years ago my elder daughter gifted me, my first kindle. I became hooked on it. Now I have an extensive Kindle library and have read countless books on kindle unlimited as well. It weighs a few ounces and just needs a charging cable.

Things I love in the month of February # 26 – Baking

Paula has asked us to share something we love, for each day of the month of February.

For my # 26 love, I choose;

Baking

As a teenager, I found the well-loved and often used cookbooks that belonged to my late mother. They had such beautiful pictures of cakes, breads, cookies and desserts that I was tempted to try my hand at making them.

In those days, we had very limited ingredients available in my country but I made substitutions and tried everything that I could from those pages. I became quite good at making cakes and breads. In fact when I got married, I didn’t knew how to prepare regular meals, but I could make/bake very nice cakes and desserts.

This one is from my year of birth!

A newer version!

Things I love in the month of February # 25 – Traditional dress

Paula has asked us to share something we love, for each day of the month of February.

For my # 25 love, I choose;

Shalwar kameez, our traditional dress in Pakistan.

Whenever I visited the USA, I dressed in jeans so that I don’t stand out like a sore thumb. Besides, jeans are very practical to wear and are suitable for all weather conditions.

But in my own country, I prefer shalwar kameez as it is best suited to our culture and weather conditions. It’s also, to my mind, a very graceful dress that hides a multitude of body issues. It’s comfortable and roomy so in summers one is at ease. It requires ironing every time one wears it as we use mostly cotton or silk fabric to make them.

Things I love in the month of February # 24 – WordPress

Paula has asked us to share something we love, for each day of the month of February.

It’s a surprise!

For my # 24 love, I choose;

WordPress

I got this notification yesterday. Three years ago I created my WordPress account to follow the blog of Dr Tanya.

It took me almost 7 months to write my first blog post but technically my blog is 3 years old.

I am loving blogging on WordPress despite all the trouble they keep on giving us. And the reason is this awesome community we have here.

Things I love in the month of February # 23 – Air Purifier

Paula has asked us to share something we love, for each day of the month of February.

For my # 23 love, I choose;

Air purifier

When I was living with my daughter in Seattle, she had an air purifier in her apartment. When she moved back to Pakistan, she got one for her rooms upstairs, and one for us.

I love it. It not only cleans the air from the considerable pollution we have but also acts as a white noise machine. This winter we had fewer throat infections or incidents of cold.

Things I love in the month of February # 22 – Zoom meeting

Paula has asked us to share something we love, for each day of the month of February.

For my # 22 Love, I choose;

Zoom meeting with school friends

Yesterday I had an amazing experience. I had my very first zoom meeting with my school friends. A very dedicated friend of mine, who is super busy herself ( Being a GP in London ) has kept in touch with a lot of our classmates from school.

Yesterday she had arranged a meeting on zoom with them. A total of 9 girls ( nearly 60) joined and we had a blast. A few of them I hadn’t seen for the last 40 years!

What a lovely experience it was.

For my # 21 love I choose;

Spring season

Who doesn’t loves spring?

The best weather of the year, flowers everywhere, green to gladden ones heart. I think only people who aren’t happy in spring are those who suffer from pollen allergy.

My hometown, Lahore is know as the city of gardens.

Hers are some images from spring festivals in different places of the city.

Things I love in the month of February # 20 – My Bed

Paula has asked us to share something we love, for each day of the month of February.

For my # 20 love, I choose;

My Bed

I love my bed. Especially the mattress. It’s just right. Neither too soft nor too firm. Whenever I am away from home, I dream about coming home and sleeping on my own bed. I think most people have a similar feeling about their beds.

Things I love in the month of February # 19 – Spa day

Paula has asked us to share something we love, for each day of the month of February.

This is an indulgence that I have denied myself for a long time due to covid restrictions. A day in my favorite salon, when I get my hair done, and get a facial or a manicure and pedicure.

It is something I used to do once a month or sometimes after two months but it was a total self-indulgence day. I hope I can go to the spa soon.
