Liebster Award # 7

I was nominated by Riya Gupta of The world of my thoughts for Liebster Award.

Thank you so much Riya for conferring this honor on my blog. If you are not familiar with Riya’s blog please check it out!

Award Rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Share 11 facts about yourself.
3. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
4. Nominate 11 bloggers and make them happy!
5. Make up to 11 questions and ask to your nominees.
6. Notify your 11 nominees.

1. What really makes you angry?

Lots of things, unfortunately. I get angry when there is social injustice, when people don’t realize the implications of their actions in destroying the environment, when I do something stupid for the umpteenth time, when people are rude, racist and unfair. I can go on and on but I think you get the idea.

2. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Dinner. I can go without breakfast and even manage to do without lunch but I can never go to sleep on an empty stomach. So dinner it is!

3. What is your biggest fear?

I have a few fears. Of the material kind, I am afraid of lizards, spiders and other crawlies like roaches.

But I have other fears; emotional ones. I fear that my kids won’t keep in touch with each other after I am gone. I fear to be on bad terms with any member of my family. I fear to be dependent on others in my old age.

4. What has been your best moment this year?

In April this year, we were blessed with two grandchildren, just two days apart. My son and daughter in-law has a baby boy and my daughter and son in-law has a baby girl. A blessing indeed. Both babies are now six months old.

5. If You Could Live Anywhere In The World For A Year, Where Would It Be?

In love visiting places but not to live there for a longer time. I would love to visit Europe, all of it. But to live, I prefer my home.

6. How do you relieve stress?

I meditate. And walk. Music is another stress reliever. Going out with friends and having long conversations with them also helps.

7. Would You Rather Go To Space Or To The Bottom Of The Ocean?

8. What’s your favorite season?

Spring and fall!

9. What’s your favorite sports?

None of the field sports. I like playing games on my phone or laptop.

10. Ice cream or milkshakes?

Neither. My teeth are cold sensitive so I stay away from cold treats.

11. New York or Paris?

My Questions;

Are you a serious blogger or just having fun here?

What was the reason that made you start a blog?

Take a while to think and let us know: what object that is in your reach right now, influences you? ( e g a tv)

How do you relax?

Are you superstitious?

Loyalty to the one you love, or one who is right?

How can we improve the environment of our planet? Do you take any practical steps towards it?

What is one habit you have that you or your family think is childish?

My Nominees;

A big Thank you to you lovely people( and a little pat on the back!)

Yes! You guessed it. 300+ follows. WordPress doesn’t acknowledge getting 300 follows on the blog, so I decided to do it myself. Not (only) because I am proud of my blog for getting this level of attention but to show my gratitude to all these wonderful people for following my blog and encouraging me in my writing.

So it seems that I have written more than 100 posts. I need to thank the wonderful people for mentoring me and for providing us with daily inspiration for writing. of this that and the other, Teresa of , The Haunted Wordsmith and Ragtag community. The lovely Hélène for the weekly picture prompt, What do you see. And many others who inspire us and give us thought provoking prompts. Specially Rory, of a Guy called Bloke and K9 Doodlepips. He has initiated many writing tags, quotes and questions to engage us all in a community spirit.

I have had more than 2500 visitors to my blog, with around 8500 views.

My blog was nominated for 4 Sunshine Bloggers Awards and 2 Liebster awards. I am humbled and overwhelmed by this love and encouragement shown to me.

I have to thank the kind people and friends here in this new world of blogging for all this love shown to my blog!

How is my blog doing so far!

It’s now 2 months since I started to write my blog. I was a bit hesitant when I started to write but my experience in blogging has put my fears to rest.

1. I was not sure of my ability to write as I hadn’t written since a long, long time. So didn’t expect to be able to write more than 50 posts in these 2 months.

2. As at first I found the blogging, challenging, tech wise, I thought that I would be dependent upon the help of more tech savvy people ( read : my kids) for solving my technical issues. But to my surprise, I learned to handle the issues myself soon enough.

3. As none of the people I knew, were bloggers ( except my one friend: Tanya) I wasn’t sure how many people will read my blogs. To my pleasant surprise, I have now more than 200 Followers!

Thanks a lot everyone you have read , liked and commented on my post.

4. I have found friendship, respect and lot of understanding in my inter-reactions with people here in WordPress.

5. Crushed Caramel and Zeesviews of Collecting Puzzles very kindly nominated me for the SUNSHINE BLOGGERS AWARD.

DrTanya@SaltedCaramel nominated me for THE LIBESTER AWARD.

So this post is about thanking you all for your support and encouragement.

Hope that you guys keep on liking my writing.

Thanks again.

I have been nominated for the: Liebster Award

A couple of days ago , DrTanya@ Salted Caramel nominated me for the Liebester Award. I am deeply honored for this nomination. The acceptance and love shown to me here, in the blogging community, is very encouraging to new bloggers like me.

First of all, what is Liebester Award?

It is said that this award is created to discover and encourage new bloggers to the blogosphere. Liebester is a word of German language, meaning Beloved, Dear, Sweet etc. In short, a term of endearment. Showing love and kindness to the newcomers. So in a way , it’s a welcome gesture for the people new to the blogging world. Such a kind thought and gesture.

What are the rules of Liebester Award:

1. Acknowledge the blogger that gave it to you and display the award.

2. Answer 11 questions that the blogger gives you.

3. Give 11 random thoughts about yourself.

4. Nominate 11 blogs and notify them of their nomination.

5. Give these blogs 11 questions to answer

Thanks a lot Dr Tanya @Salted Caramel. I appreciate the award, the opportunity to answer your questions and to tell my readers some things about myself.

11 Random thoughts about myself:

1. I am an avid reader. As a teenager I had read All the book at home, including very old poetry books too. I inherited this love of reading from my father and grandfather.

2. As a kid and later on as a young adult, I loved to make things with my hands, stitching, knitting, painting and other DIY projects.

3. I am a pacifist. I hate arguments, misunderstandings and fights. As a kid, I would play the role of the peacemaker in the home.

4. I have three brothers, and used to be a tomboy. I would play with my brothers, and used to tag along with them on their outings. I loved cycling and target shooting.

5. I love organizing: be it events with friends, family or community. Some people have called me bossy too.

6. I love watching movies, mostly all types, but I can’t stand horror movies.

7. There are very few days when I don’t eat chocolate, specially dark chocolate. My favorite is Intense orange, by Lindt.

8. I love spending time with friends and family. But I am also happy by myself. I can entertain myself for hours.

9. I love playing games on my phone, iPad, laptop etc. I am very fond of games, but not the violent games. I mostly play mental games, to exercise my mind and to keep it from degeneration. But my phone battery is giving up fast!

10. I am very bad at remembering names and faces. It makes for a lot of socially embarrassing situations.

11. I always try to find a silver lining in any unpleasant situation. An optimist by nature, but I take life too seriously sometimes.

11 Questions put to me by Tanya @Salted Caramel:

1. What is your biggest pet peeve?

I am always irritated by people who don’t follow rules and try to break in the queue.

2. Where did you get your name?

I got the name of my blog from the thought that women over 50, sometimes give up on the desire to enjoy life to the full. Hence “Keep it alive”. That is, the spirit of enjoying life.

3. If you could change your name, what would it be?

I like my name as it is, but if I could then maybe I would have gone for some smaller and zippier version of it like , living life!

4. What was your favorite TV show as a kid?

I loved to watch Tom and Jerry, the cartoons, as a kid.

5. Do you have any weird habits?

Sometimes I can’t go to sleep at night ( too much coffee or Coke Zero), so I get up and start walking in the house. After walking for about an hour, I get sleepy enough to go back to bed.

6. Do you like fall  scents /Tastes?

I love the fall flavors! Cinnamon dolce latte, pumpkin spice latte…. you can see where I am going!

7. What is your favorite holiday and why?

I love spring break. The weather is great and kids have time off from school. There is no crazy jam at the airports in spring.

8. Do you prefer writing it down or typing it up?

I usually type when I am blogging. Writing takes longer for me and is messier. Even shopping lists are typed on my phone!

9. Netflix or cable?

Netflix, hands down. I can’t remember schedules of regular programs so I prefer to watch at my own convenience.

10. If money didn’t matter, what would you do with your life?

If money was no problem, then I would travel and see the places I have wanted to visit. Or maybe a grand world tour?

11. What is your favorite thing about yourself?

I try to be as honest as I can. Sometimes, one has to bend the truth a little so as not to hurt others but as a I policy, I tell the truth.

So my questions are the same as those that were asked from me ( Sorry if it sounds as if I am not making an effort. But i found the questions very interesting! )
