Some people are born a ‘know it all’; they are overconfident about almost everything. Do you ever hear them saying, “Sorry but I’m not very sure/ knowledgeable about this subject”?

I bet you haven’t. They will boldly go where angels fear to tread and attempt to do things they have no idea how to do. And when things go south, as they are bound to go, they will blame the circumstances, and never themselves.

What to do to dampen their urge to take all matters into their not very experienced hands and perhaps leave things worse than they found them?

I’d suggest that you counter their efforts before they even start to tell you or show you how to do it by becoming a know-it-all yourself ( if only in an alternate reality). If you assure them that you know how to do it, it might deter them…… or it can result in a tug of war of who knows best!!!
