It was dark and deserted. The graffiti covered building wasn’t reassuring either. But it was the place of rendezvous so she waited here. They were late! She cursed herself for waiting here alone, at night and in a strange country. What if they don’t show up? Just then she saw headlights of a vehicle around the corner. The car stopped to a halt near her and she heard Suzanne calling her to come in. Finally! She breathed a sigh of relief. But a scream of terror rose to her lips as she glanced around after sitting in the car.

In olden time they thought that our world rested on the back of a giant turtle going sedately through the cosmos. A position which was perilous whenever the turtle shifted the humongous weight on its back. But for an artist, the whole world is replaced by a boy.

My interpretation of the artist’s view!

To me you are my world, riding this tortoise

Sitting and enjoying the ride

A happy smile of anticipation on your face

May all your tomorrows be full of

Joy without worry, happiness without encumbrance

I wish you carefree days and nights

Enjoy and rejoice in life

Leaving my bike outside the shop, I ventured in. I didn’t have hopes of a warm welcome. After all, the prodigal son doesn’t always gets the hero’s welcome.  I went in expecting to find my granny behind the counter dealing with the customers and my mom, in the baking area. Nothing was the same as I had left it. Mom was sitting near the counter, her expression far away. “Mom!” I said tentatively. She turned towards me, a mixture of joy and sorrow on her face. ” So you got the news” she said. “What news mom, What has happened?”

“Granny passed away last Sunday. I am glad you have come back”

You can try to break free but sometimes life holds you in a loop. The harder you try the less your success is. We keep on doing the same things day after day, week after week. This is a rut that gets deeper as we trudge into it, time after time. The daily grind becomes our sole purpose of life. To get out of this endless loop we need to see our life with a fresh perspective. We need to redefine our purpose and goal. Try to find even in our day to day struggle, something that really motivates us.

Nobody looked at them. They were so sure that their adventure would catapult them into instant fame.

Three students, up in the air in balloons that they had salvaged from the recycling heap! People should have been taking pictures of their balloons, posting them on social media! But they failed to factor in the fact that most people are so engrossed in their own daily struggles that virtually no one had the time to sit and stare at the sky.

When he first started to learn to play the sax, he had high hopes. Dream of playing solo to a packed house with standing ovations seemed to be attainable.

He learned to play but according to his instructor he lacked the flair which all great musicians shared. But he had fallen in love with playing and making his own music. At the end his teacher told him that there wasn’t much he could teach him anymore. Now he comes here to play and enjoy his music. There are no critics here. No one to protest if he plays off key. Granny was sitting in her wheelchair busy knitting while keeping an eye open in case the kids stepped out of the boundaries. This playing area was a God sent in this wilderness. The settlers were very grateful that there was a place where the kids could enjoy the outdoor air. They just had to be extra vigilant that no one stray out of the fences. Life here on Olympus 1 was still very uncertain.

Tony was happy that the name of his favorite character in the Avengers movie was Tony. Tony was Iron man, a tech savvy, multimillionaire who fought the bad guys to keep the universe safe. As Tony was just eight, his mom didn’t encourage him to watch these action movies more than once, but she compensated him by getting him all the Iron man LEGO sets. And he was so good at building them. He would make the set and would then display it for his parents. He loved it when mom took a picture of all of them standing together.
