January 16th,2022- Ridiculous but fun!

How ridiculous is this;

Hmmm….. perhaps you haven’t had your coffee yet!
Spellcheck wasn’t enough here. Some mistakes need proper attention!
The caption says it all!
Really! How convenient;)
I wonder what the students will learn here?
Slippery pedestrians are to be avoided at all costs! And cows should be taught how to open gates!
I think they should learn it first!

January 15th,2022 – Rainy days

On my last visit to Lahore, we had a lot of rainy days. And unlike the usual winter rain which falls quietly and gently, there was a loud downpour this year. The country was experiencing a dry spell so the rain was very welcome. But when one is on vacation, it does makes life a bit inconvenient.

I was determined to go out, meet friends, shop, and eat out so we ignored the water from the sky and dashed around to do what we felt was more important than the fear of getting a bit wet!

At the end of the day, getting wet in the rain is a minor inconvenience as long as one doesn’t lose one’s head and slip in a puddle of water.

Now that would be bad!

January 14th, 2022- Freckled

Fair skin, red hair are frequently accompanied by freckles. But people like me should not have them as I don’t fall in the above category. But I did have, loads of them.

One of my cousins, who is a doctor and lives in America, got his genealogy tested, and guess what? It seems we have some Caucasian, as well as gypsy DNA in our blood. That may account for dark reddish-brown hair and freckles in many of my mom’s family.

I got rid of a lot of the freckles that were on my face with cryotherapy. The doctor uses liquid nitrogen to burn of the freckles. It’s a relatively painless and inexpensive procedure. I guess it was vanity that made me take this step.

I still have a few here and there that I am okay with.

Not me!

January 13th, 2022- Following the protocol

Covid protocols are in place for our own safety.

Why do people prefer to get ill, to wearing a mask? I will never understand this type of thinking.

Last Sunday I met a lady who was working at the local McDonald’s. She was wearing her mask on her chin. I asked her to cover her mouth and nose and she declined, saying that she felt suffocated. There were others there too, mask-less.

What people don’t understand is that Covid not only kills but also makes a person very ill and the illness can prolong. It’s not only death they should be worried about, but the disability brought on by getting ill. It

Anyway, since I cannot make others do as they should, I follow all the safety protocols of Covid and so does my family.

January 12th, 2022- Mistakes

Mistakes are part of the dues one pays for a full life”

Sophia Loren

Making mistakes is a part of living and learning. I make many mistakes and then regret eats at my heart till I come to terms with my blunder. Never let any mistake stop you from living to the full. Get over it, apologize for it and go on in life!

January 11th, 2022-Cosmopolitan

Cosmopolitan, suave and well articulated
I wish I had all these qualities
Instead I am blunt, outspoken to a fault
I wouldn’t say I’m provincial but not sophisticated either
I do have a bit of charm buried under A thick layer of self-effacing humor
I can only lay a claim to sincerity of thoughts and actions
I am but a simple soul, open and truthful

January 10th, 2022 – Chocolate

Chocolate colored skin
Beautiful and proud

Moulded to beautiful bones
Spine rigid with pride

Why sing the praise of ivory
When the ebony is just as charming

I find it funny when referred to
As a person of color by others

Because no one is without color
We all just different shades of brown

Respect all heritage, all birthrights
See goodness in all, regardless of their skin color

January-9th, 2022- Am I too old?

Am I too old to dream of rainbows and unicorns?

Too old to indulge in a journey of fantastical imagination?

Am I too practical to believe in love and magic?

Am I too jaded to stop and smell the roses?

Or chase a butterfly over a field of blossoming flowers?

Am I?

January 7th, 2022 -Tempest

A worried frown
A niggling doubt
Darkening of the brow
Heaviness of the heart

Signs of a tempest brewing
Time to fortify the soul
Strengthen the spirit
Stand tall and resolute

When circumstances test us
We need to step up our game
Call in the reserves
And face with fortitude

A storm be it big or small
Disturbs the rhythm of life
It’s only with conviction and
Courage that we deal with it

January 6th, 2022- Anticipation

Sometimes, the anticipation is far more enjoyable
Than the actual event that we are waiting for
The pleasant feeling that tingles through us
When we think of achieving what we have wanted
The wait may be tedious but when we are rewarded
By getting what we have been aiming for
That feeling is just priceless!
