The Inspiration Award

The Inspiration Award

The Inspiration Award was created by John of The Eclectic Contrarian – this is how he describes the Award itself.

“The Inspiration Award: The Inspiration Award is a token of appreciation to blog authors who have inspired you, your blog, artistic influence, and writing.”

Beckie of Beckie’s Mental Mess has bestowed this award on my blog. I am very grateful for your kindness, Beckie.

The Guidelines for this award are;

You may use the picture above as you have received the Award.

There’s no limit on how many or few you wish to award. Simply appreciate those who have inspired you!

I hope this is a blessing and everyone participates. But it’s not mandatory.

I want to gift this award to the following bloggers for their positive role in inspiring us all in our part of blogosphere. I admire their dedication towards promoting the community spirit. And their exceptional talent and creativity. They support the new bloggers, the underdog. I don’t want to sound brash so I won’t say anything more.

Beckie’s 5 Questions For My Nominees:

1. What are your aspirations in life?

You know that as with all people, my goals and aspirations have changed a lot as I am going through different phases of life. Now that my kids have grown up and living their own lives, my aspirations are bit more personal. I want to do something good for others during the rest of my life. Maybe educated people about certain aspects of life. Or spread awareness about important issues of life. In short I want to be able to say that at the end of my life, “I spent a useful life”

2. If you had $5000, what charity would you donate it to?

I would donate it to ” Doctors Without Borders” they do great work all through the developing countries on very low salaries. I really admire the commitment it takes to choose this course of life.

3. What is your favorite kind of music to chill out to?

Anything that strikes my fancy. I am not fixated at any specific genre. It should be a good melody, interesting lyrics and not grating on my nerves. One sort of music which has never appealed to me is the heavy metal!

4. How would you rate your experience on WordPress?  1 being lowest, 10 being highest.

On the technical side I would say that it’s around 7-8. They have their issues but most of them can be solved if you get in touch with the happiness engineers. The community is absolutely wonderful. This side of WordPress is priceless. I have found friends here who feel like family.

5. Have you gained real friendships through blogging?

I definitely have. I made many friends who feel more like family to me.

Kristian recently was gifted this award and has kindle asked me to answer his questions.

Questions from Kristian;

1. If you were offered £/$ 100,000 to sleep in a haunted house, would you? How would you cope?

I would be very willing to take the Challenge! As I don’t believe that there are ghosts and if there are, they can’t or won’t hurt us. I would take my ear-plugs and a good book to read. I will make an early night of it, and take something to make me sleep soundly. I would hope to wake up in the morning in one piece and of sound mind and body.

2. What was your favourite show as a kid?

The first one I remember was ” Popeye the sailor man”

Popeye and Olive Oyl

3. Do you have any weird habits?

Many! I like to do things in a specific order. If I can’t do that I get stressed out and that day is not good till I get back into my fixed routine. I like my own company. Not that I am a hermit but I don’t mind being on my own and spend time reading, blogging or playing games on my phone! I walk mostly inside the house. I don’t want to go out if it’s too cold or too hot, or if it is too late.

4. If money didn’t matter, what would you do with your life

What I am doing right now! I feel money is important for certain aspects of life but not for having a good life. At my age I would need to put aside some money for emergencies regarding my health. But other than that if I had too much money, I would probably be more worked up instead of enjoying it.

5. What is your favourite thing about yourself?

 I am really grateful that I have a optimistic personality. As they say Sunny! It is inbuilt in me to try to look at bright side of things and lift myself out of gloom and negativity.

In answering these questions, I have shared a lot of things about myself. So I don’t feel the need to do it again.

As for nominations, well I leave it open to any one who wants to answer any or all of the questions from Beckie and Kristian.

I would like to give a shoutout to these fellow bloggers;

Sue Vincent

Kat Myrman

These are all great bloggers. And I have learned a lot from them. There are many others which have influenced me but if I mention them all, I won’t be able to finish this post.

If you guys have the time or inclination to answer the above questions, it would be great.

Another Sunny day! And another Sunshine Blogger Award # 14

Tanya of Salted Caramel

has nominated for my 14th Sunshine Blogger Award.

Tanya has a wonderful blog. A diverse blog with many informative topics. Please go check it out. Thank you so much Tanya for bestowing this honor on my blog.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

“The Blogosphere community holds several awards that bloggers use to nominate a blog in appreciation for its creative, inspiring, or motivational content.”

“The award also helps other bloggers receive recognition and free exposure for their blogs.”

Award’s Rules

There are some basic rules to follow if you decide to participate:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link their blog so everyone can visit.
  • Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.
  • Notify the nominees by commenting on their blog post.
  • List the rules and display the Award logo on your blog post.

Tanya’s Questions for the Nominees of this Award

1. How old is your blog now?

My blog is going to be one year old in a few weeks. It is because of Tanya that I started blogging in the first instance. So the credit for my blog goes to her.

2. What do you enjoy most about blogging?

Being the sort of person who can talk about my pet topics for hours on end, blogging has given me the perfect opportunity to say whatever I want to say. Surprisingly I didn’t felt shy, even when I wrote my first ever poem and posted it on my blog. Or my very first story. I never felt that I would be ridiculed or people won’t like my writing. I guess that is the most liberating experience.

3. How important do you think Social Media is for the success of a blog?

People ( experts) say that you should advertise your blog on social media sites like Twitter or Facebook. But I don’t think that it is all that important for the popularity of your blog. The content and regularity is more important.

4. How would you define a sucessful blog? In other words, what do think a successfu blog looks like?

For me the most successful blog is the one the blogger enjoys writing and their follower enjoys reading. That is the basic aim of blogging and if you want to measure the success in terms of followers or money made, then there will always be blogs who have many more followers or are making more money.

5. Describe your feelings when you received your first blogging award nomination.

Incredible! I couldn’t believe that someone thought me or my blog, deserving of an award.

6. Have you ever thought about monetizing your blog ?

I have Word-ads on my blog but am thinking of discontinuing them. They just take up space on my site and the money earned is just not worth it.

7. If so, what do you think is the best method of monetizing?

I think the best way to make money is through affiliated links. But I have no idea how it is done.

8. What kind of post fo you find easiest or most enjoyable to write?

Sometimes I enjoy combining a few prompts into a post, at others I like writing about the blogging process itself. It depends upon how I am feeling that day!

9. What is your opinion about writing prompts?

I like the prompts. I admire people who give us the Prompt words day after day. It take s lot of work and thought for doing it.

10. Funny/Weird Question: if you were a superhero, what superpower would you like to have and what would you do with it?

I would like to be Superman and Superwoman rolled into one. Or rather I think Captain Marvel will do. She is supposedly the most powerful hero out there.

11. What is your favourite way to unwind after a hectic day ?

Blogging, or reading. Or maybe relax in front of tv with my feet up. Depends on the sort of the day I’ve had.

Thanks a lot Tanya for this honor, once again.

I am asking anyone who is interested in answering the questions posed by Tanya to give it a shot.

Sorry for not posting new questions of my own but the ones Tanya has asked are very interesting and relevant.

No nomination this time around. The field is open, so anyone reading this, consider yourself nominated.

Thanks for reading!

One by of Something to Stu over

4. Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions

Here are Stuart’s questions:

1. What, in your opinion, is the most majestic of all God’s creation?

The whole universe is an amazing creation, but I feel that human beings are the only ones who have reasoning, power of making informed decisions and the free will to do so. So I would say that human being is the most majestic of all creations.

2. Are you a read the book type of person or a wait for the movie type?

I would read the book first and then would wait for the movie.

We need to discuss a lot of issues in our society. An open debate about our values, morals and behavior is very much needed.

4. Do you prefer hanging out with a group of friends around a fire or chilling alone by a lake?

Friends any day!

5. What inspires you to keep blogging?

It is a place where I can express my opinions and say what I want to say. So it is my new passion.

Environment-wise we definitely are. There is nothing that cannot be fixed but we need will and definitely some action to save ourselves from the impending doom.

I prefer not to discuss my religion here.

9. What is the current color of your kitchen?

The Questions from Kristian to his nominees:

1. What is your theory on the point of existence?

You mean to ask, Why we exist?

I think that we are created to prove that we are deserving of the love of God. Be good and kind and helpful in life. Accept things that we can not change and do our best to change things for the better which are in our power to do.

There are so many not one. I love a movie which makes me think and can change my view point. But I love a good comedy or action movie as well.

Sunshine blogger award Nominations # 10 and 11

Em of From famine to feast has nominated me for The Sunshine Blogger Award.

Yaasotaa also nominated me for this award a couple of months ago ( maybe more, sorry I put it off for so long).

I am grateful for both these excellent bloggers for this honor. Please check out their blogs.

The Sunshine Blogger Award is peers recognition award for bloggers who inspire readers by promoting positivity and bringing joy.

• Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to their blog so others can find them.

• Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you.

• Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.

• Notify the nominees about it by commenting on one of their blog posts.

• List the rules and display a Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or your blog site.

Em’s eleven questions for the nominees (which were very challenging to come up with )are as follows:

1.What has been your favourite age, and why?

Young age when I was able to do anything I wanted without getting tired was good but it had a lot of responsibility and fear of failure. Old age where I have a few limitations health wise but fewer fears and responsibilities. I guess each had its bonus. I think I am happy to be in the age I am now because I am more comfortable in my skin.

2.What things do you collect?

Unfortunately I do have a lot of meaningless stuff which probably has very less value for me, like cosmetics, clothes shoes. I am trying these days to curb this habit and give away what I don’t need or use.

3.Do you work better with actual lists or with mental lists?

Since my memory is not that good anymore, I work better with actual lists. But I am not the sort of person who is always making lists. There are two type of lists I make, grocery shopping list and packing list. The rest is left to my memory!

4.Do you meditate? Why or why not?

I do, daily. It centers me. It makes me aware of the things I should be grateful for.

5.What’s your favourite non-mental health book/author?

Oh I have loads of writers I like to read. My current fave is Louise Penny, an Canadian author. Her style is a cross between Agatha Christie and Conan Doyle. Very interesting books.

6.How old do you want to get?

I want to live till the age I can exist independently and not be a burden on anyone, not even my children.

7.Do you think the human species is getting better, getting worse, or do you think we just do the same things over and over again?

We probably are making the same mistake our ancestors made but since we have access to a far more advanced technology, we are likely to make more serious mistakes and cause irreparable damage.

8.Do you believe in things metaphysical? Do you believe in horoscopes, prognosticating cards, and so on?

I do believe in the metaphysical, like concept of soul, angels and other non- physical entities. But I don’t believe that the future can be predicted, so no to horoscopes etc.

9.Team Marvel or Team DC?

Team Marvel. All of them. Though DC is getting better with the recent Wonder Woman movies.

10.Do you like brunch and if you do, what’s your favourite brunch food?

Not very keen on brunch.

11.Eat in or eat out?

Eat in all through the week. Eating out one weekends!

Yaasotaa’s Questions are;

1. What do you think about love?

Love is essential part of being human. It’s not always about romance, though that is essential too, but love among us in families and friends. Among us as humans for each other is very necessary.

2 jungle traking or swimming?

Don’t know how to swim so if it has to be choice between just these two, it has to be jungle tracking. Though I would be the last one, bringing up the rear.

3.Ever felt the presence of ghosts? Was it a woman or a man or a couple?

I can’t say that I have experienced a ghost. Seen them in movies only.

4. Pizza or Mc?

Pizza, of course!

5. Have you been betrayed by your friends?

Who hasn’t been betrayed in life. But they certainly were no friends. Friends don’t do that and those who betray us or back stab us are no friends.

6. Drawing or painting?

Both but on a very primitive level. Imagine a child doing it!

7. What is your worst nightmare?

Not being able to look after my physical, mental and financial needs. I never want to be in that position.

8. What is your favrourite instrument?

A pen for writing, a screwdriver for fixing thing and an iPod for music.

9. Who is your mentor?why

My father taught me the basic values of life. He is my role model and try to be like him.

My Questions;

1. What is the most important thing in life for you?

2. Do your friends and family support you in blogging ( or any other passion of your’s)?

She says;

There’s no questions or need to thank me. I also don’t require you to nominate others, although I think it would be a kind gesture. 🙂

Blogger Recognition Award #4

Carol of Chopkins has very kindly nominated me for this award. Thank you so much Carol. She has a wonderful blog and she writes lovely posts. Very heartfelt and touching.

• Thank the nominator, and publish a post on your blog about receiving the Blogger Recognition Award. Make sure to provide a link to the nominator’s blog in your post.

• Give a brief story of how your blog started.

• Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

• Nominate 10-15 other bloggers for this award, and inform them of their nomination.

The start;

I have written about how I started my blog many times. So this time I want to tell you why I write, after starting my blog on a whim. ( you can read about it Here ).

Writing gives me something which I had not imagined it could. It gives an outlet to my feelings and ideas. It enables me to express what resides in the depth of my soul. I feel free to say and write what I want. I am obviously careful not to give offense but the freedom of expression is a powerful thing. I try to use my posts to create awareness among my readers. It is an excellent meeting place. I have made a lot of great friends here. I have gained confidence and my writing skills have improved a lot ( even if I say so myself!). So, in short, blogging is great!

My advice;

1. Be honest. If there is something you don’t know, don’t write about it. On unknown territory, research your subjects and then write. People can discern when they are being given false information.

2. Be generous. Read other blogs. Give genuine comments and give time to getting to know your fellow bloggers. It takes time and effort to get to know people around you. If you are generous with your time, others will reciprocate too.

My nominees;

Jen Goldie

Winnie of Musings

Yonnie of In His Care

Teresa of The Haunted Wordsmith

Gina of Singledust

After much deliberation I have decided to award the nomination to five outstanding bloggers. Hope you will have enough time at hand to respond to it. Because I believe that these inter-blogger exchanges built up the community spirit.

Thanks for reading.

Hey this is a new one! “Blogger Recognition Award” 1, 2 & 3

Laura Venturini has very kindly nominated my blog for this Blogger recognition award. I am truly grateful to her for bestowing this honor on my blog.

As a result of this post of Laura, who had nominated Di, of Pensitivity, she also gave a shoutout to my blog. Thanks a lot Di for your kindness.

I was also nominated by Beckie of Beckie’s Mentalmess for this award. A huge thanks to you Beckie as well.

How it all started;

I had a friend who started to blog and to read her posts, I had to make a WordPress account. Every time I would open my account to read her posts, the app would urge me to start my own blog. So one day I did it! I had not thought this through and had not made any long term plans but when I started to write, something miraculous happened and it became my new passion or hobby. It is so rewarding to write what others read and like. It truly is a humbling experience but at the same this it is exhilarating too! I want to thank all my friends here in this blogging world who have given me tremendous support.

My advice;

1. Just write. Write on things which are your passion. Write about things you are knowledgeable about and write with sincerity. And don’t give up writing if it is your passion.

2. Be grateful that people are willing to spend time on reading what you write. Never lose this as otherwise you will become arrogant and the process of blogging will not be a source of enjoyment for you. (And always accept awards😜)

My nominees;

Dr Tanya of Salted Caramel

Calmkate of Aroused

Tanvir of Beauty lies within yourself

Britchy of Brichin in the kitchen

Anitashope of For the love of

Kim of I tripped over a stone

JP the wide eyed wanderer

Len of Lensdailydiary

Willow of Patience of a willow

Tom of Slumdog Soldier

My sincere thanks once again to Laura for the gifting of this award.

The blogs I chose for the award are really great ones. I hope that the fact that writing award posts are a time consuming process will not deter you from accepting this award. To my mind being nominated or given an award is a great honor and a way to bond with the community. So please try to pay it forward.

Blogging—- I did it ; 1000 posts!

Eight months!

It took me eight months and a few days to get to this milestone.

Just wanted to share this bit of good news with you all. So if I was like Fandango, I would post an analysis of my posts. How many on which genre or topic. But I am;

A. Too lazy

B. Short on time

So let’s just say that apart from a few reblogs, I have written that many post.

They include poems, short stories and dedicated blog posts. I am happy with most of them. If they all are not good, they have helped me to write better. And that is what counts.

I want to write stuff that makes my readers think, make them smile or just something silly to suit the prompt. The aim of my blog is still;

” To address the issues women over fifty are facing “

But along the way I am learning to write, I am getting better at expressing myself and I hope I am making fewer mistakes in my grammar and spellings.(The fact that WordPress took away the spellcheck has made me a bit conscious about it!)

So thank you, everyone for reading what I write. You are kind enough to encourage me, give me useful advice and like what I post. I would never have written this much if you weren’t reading it!
