Sunshine Blogger Award- Twice nominated

Jennifer from PaperKutzs had nominated me for this award a while ago.

I was also very kindly nominated by Sangeetha of Mindfills for this award as well.

I want to that both, Jennifer and Sangeetha for this honor to my blog. Please drop in on their blogs to check out their posts.

So here is a combination post!

Here are the Sunshine blogger award rules.

RULES: Thank the person who nominated you, add the link to their blog, answer the eleven questions given to you, nominate 11 other bloggers, ask your nominees 11 other questions and notify your nominees after you upload your post.

Jennifer’s 11 Questions;

Do you have a niche blog or do you have different types of posts?

I don’t have a niche. I love doing a variety of posts and follow a lot of prompts.

If you have a niche blog what is your niche?

See the above answer.

How long have you been blogging?

My blog just turned 2 years old on 6th September.

• Is your blogging still a passion or has it become a chore?

My blogging is still my passion. It is a wonderful way to use my spare time and to interact with my friends in the blogging community.

When choosing to let another blogger know you are interested in their blog do you just hit like or do you leave a comment?

It depends on the type of post I am reading. If it is the sort where a discussion is going on, I like leaving my views. If it’s a poem or story that I liked I would like that post.

How often do you post and respond to other blogs?

I post daily, 3-4 times, and visit the blogs I follow daily too. Sometimes I cannot visit all the blogs I follow but I do try.

• What is your usual blogging routine?

Whenever I get time. It’s usually early in the morning and then before bedtime.

• If you live outside the United States, are you having the same riots that are occurring in the US?

I was living in Seattle till recently, when I moved back to my own country, Pakistan. There were a lot of riots in Seattle concerning the “Black lives matter” movement. In my country, we do have social injustice too but of a different nature. As yet thankfully things aren’t that bad and no protests are going on.

• Where is your favorite place to work on your blog?

Anywhere! Provided I have peace and quiet to think and write.

• If you still have younger children when do you find blogging time?

No young children, all are grown up with kids of their own. Though my grandkids sometimes want to play with grandma and then I postpone my writing to give them time.

Has you ever had the feeling that blogging was becoming overwhelming and considered ending your blogging?

Sometimes, when I have other commitments and cannot give blogging my usual attention, I feel a bit stressed. But never overwhelmed enough to consider giving it up. It’s a form of entertainment for me and a stress buster.

Sangeetha’s 11 questions;

1. What’s love got to do with it ? Tina Turner

Everything revolves around love. Without love, life is not living, be it the love of a person or our passion for things and ideas in life.

2. What if we said goodbye to safe and sound? Troye Sivan

Why not? Take the highway to adventure and live dangerously.

3. Who’s zoomin who ? Aretha Franklin 😉

Everyone is Zooming everyone else. Especially school kids and their teachers!

4. How do you sleep? Sam smith

Soundly some days and not much on others. It’s directly related to my level of tiredness and the amount of coffee I’ve had.

5. How do you want to be remembered – Magic

With joy and smiles.

6. What if God was one of us? Joan Osbourne

God is in all of us.

7. Where did all the good people go? Jack Johnson

They are still among us, otherwise, this place would’ve become hell.

8. Are you listening? Paramore

I do try. I am training myself to talk less and listen more.

9. Do you practice what you preach? Black eyed peas

I do try. And when I don’t, my family calls me out on it! Very often.

10. What are you waiting for? Nickelback

I am waiting to complete this post and pre-schedule it so I can go sit with my daughter and grandson.

11. Why worry? Dire straits

Why indeed! Worry never solved anything in anyone’s life ever. Live in the moment and don’t borrow trouble from tomorrow.

I am digressing from the rules here. I am a bit pushed for time to think of new questions and as for nominating 11 bloggers, that usually doesn’t works that well.

So if you, The reader would like, consider yourself nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award, answer any 11 of the questions that I have answered or all 22.

My sincere thanks to both Jennifer and Sangeetha for this wonderful award!

Another Real Neat Blog Award

Caz of Mentalhealth360 UK has very kindly nominated me for this award!

  • Display the award logo

  • Answer the questions of the one who nominated you
  • Nominate some bloggers
  • Ask them seven questions

Caz’s seven questions

• What was the last book/film that captivated you and why?

I read “A man called Ove” by Fredrik Backman. I really loved it. The narrative was simple yet very enchanting. It is full of humor and at the same time deals with the realities of life in a very pragmatic manner.

Who made you the best Dinner ever, and What was it?

The best dinner obviously was made by me. But whenever I cook for a special occasion, it never comes out the way I imagined it. So it was on a random evening that I rustled up something and it turned out great.

Did you ever have a Dream come true and was it anything like you imagined it to be?

Many times in life I have realized my dreams. Like getting married to the best man ever, (obviously I would think that) or losing the excess weight that I am carrying ( I have done this one a few times)!

Having a dream come true is the best feeling ever. You just have to be consciously aware of it and appreciate your good fortune.

• Why did you start your blog?

I started blogging on a whim and stuck to it because it is so much fun. I am learning new things every day and my writing skills are improving too.

And the best thing about blogging is that I’ve made fantastic new friends here.

• If you could take one thing/occurrence out Of the history of Mankind what would it be? Why?

I would take all the wars out of human history. All that bloodshed has not earned us anything, just a lot of history which is shameful to follow.

• Did the current situation around the Pandemic have any positive side effects on your Life? Can you give an example?

I was visiting my daughter in Seattle when we were told to self-isolate ourselves due to the pandemic.

As I was not going anywhere so I decided to up my daily walking target. Now I walk for about two hours in the morning and around 20-30 minutes after dinner. Thanks to all this walking I have lost around 25 pounds in the last 4 months.

My Seven Questions;

• What do you think is your biggest achievement in life?

• What sort of books you like to read?

• Are you a collector?

• What one activity you miss most, which you haven’t been able to do due to the lockdown?

• Are you a people’s person or a happy to be with yourself kind?

• Do you play any games on your phone or computer?

• Do you like getting awards on your blog?

My Nominees;

Thank you all for reading.

Another Award!

Di of Pensitivity has conferred another honor on my blog.

A Sunshine Blogger Award!

Di is a very versatile blogger and has a wonderful blog.

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given by bloggers to bloggers who inspire positiveness and creativity in the blogging community.

The rules are:

1. Thank blogger(s) who nominated you and link back to their blog.

2. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

3. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.

4. Nominate up to 11 new blogs to receive the award, write them 11 new questions and notify them about the nomination.

Di’s Questions:

1.   Do you plan your blogging day, or just log in and go with the flow?

I plan. Most of my posts are written a day earlier. Except for the daily prompt post. I spend a couple of hours on my blog when I wake up, and a couple more after dinner. During the day, I glance at it from time to time to keep up with the comments and new posts.

2.   If you have a garden, do you prefer flowers or vegetables, or a mixture of both?

I do have a garden and there are flowers and a few trees there. No vegetables unfortunately as it’s not big enough.

3.   Can you swim underwater?

I can’t swim at all. If I go underwater, I’ll probably won’t surface again!

4.   When was the last time you rode a bicycle (push bike)?

That would be 35 years ago. I loved to ride my bike but with age, it just got away from me.

5.   What is your favourite part of a cooked breakfast? (bacon, eggs, sausage etc)

Eggs scrambled with cheese. Or a Mexican omelet. And hot croissants with butter.

6.   Do you sing in the shower?

Nopes! Very bad at singing. I don’t want the neighbors to feel threatened!

7.   What unnerves you most, being stared at by a dog/cat, or a child?

I would say a menacing stare from any of the above.

8.   Do you still have your appendix?

I do! I just don’t have my real knees anymore. The rest is almost there. Maybe I lost my mind or bits of it!

9.   Glasses or contacts, or neither?

I wore glasses since grade six. Then in college, I shifted to contacts. And three years ago I got cataract surgery done in both eyes and now I just need reading glasses. Yeyyyy!

10. What is your favourite day of the week and why?

Before the lockdown, I loved Mondays. After the weekend, it felt good to be on my own and to spend the day as I liked.

Now I like weekends better. No school!

I am a clumsy right handed.

My Questions;

1) What is your favorite holiday and how do you celebrate it?

I love spring break. I usually visit my daughter and spend time with my grandson. The weather is just perfect and we plan out excursions together. It’s a fun time for us and I get to spoil him!

2) If you could travel in space, would you?

If I passed the fitness test, I would. Imagine how wonderful the view must be!

3) Dogs or cats? If you answer cats, we can still be friends even though it is wrong answer haha.

If I say neither, will we still be friends?

4) Besides Lord of the Rings, the best movies ever, and Star Wars, tied for best movies ever, what is your favorite movie?

I really enjoyed the Avengers series by Marvel. And the related movies to this saga, like Captain America, Ironman, and Thor!

5) If I was your neighbor, could I visit for dinner? If so, how often?

Come as often as you like, if you don’t mind simple food.

6) What is a place where you live that you recommend people visit?

I’d recommend that you visit Seattle! It’s an awesome place. The weather is mostly moderate and there are tons of places to visit. The only downside is the rain. Be sure to bring your umbrella with you.

7) What is a favorite quote of yours and by who?

I think these quotes can be considered gems of wisdom;

Being a Muslim, I celebrate Christmas as a holiday.

9) Why do you blog? What motivates you to blog?

I love writing and sharing my thoughts with my blogging family. This is my reason and my motivation.

10) When you write in your blog, where do you like to be and do you snack?

I find a comfortable spot and I usually have my cup of decaf coffee with me. With the amount of time I spend blogging, I cannot afford to snack. I would gain a lot of weight.

Thank you so much, Riya. I am sorry it took me so long to get to this post. It got lost in my draft folder.

I am once again very grateful for this award!

This is the third award post for me in one week and I have one more to do in the coming days.

So I am not nominating anyone by name, I’m inviting anyone who is interested to answer the questions by Riya.

Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award

Di of Pensitivity has conferred this award on my blog!

• Thank the person who has nominated you and provide a link back to his/her blog.✔️

• Answer their questions.✔️

• Nominate up to 9 other bloggers and ask them 5 new questions.✔️

• Notify the nominees through their blog by visiting and commenting on their blog.🔛

• List the rules and display the “Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award” logo. ✔️

• Provide the link to the Award creator, as Rising Star from (It’s all about Inspiration).✔️

Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award is a non-official Award to the bloggers as a reward of wonderful work on their blogs. It’s just as important because it really reflects the good impact we can have on other people’s lives. Awards are important for the inspiration, towards the success of our fellow bloggers and especially newbie’s to become future “Stars“.

Di’s questions:

1. Do you enjoy Q&A challenges for awards such as this?

I love Q & A posts. Awards are another cup of tea. If there were no nominations involved, I could do awards every day of the week. But I feel that when one gets an award, one should reciprocate and pass it on. The only problem is; to find people willing to play along.

But thanks for the award. It is very kind of you.

2. How long have you been blogging?

I will complete my second year of blogging on 5th September 2020. That makes my blog almost 21 months old. Still a baby I’d say!

3. Has your blog turned out more or less as you expected or totally different?

Not totally different, but quite a bit so. I thought I would be writing about health, weight loss, and different types of diets that I have tried over the years. I still do it sometimes but it’s mostly poems, prompts, and fiction these days. And I like it this way.

4. If you had never had a blog before, would you be interested in starting one?

Right now is the perfect time to start a blog. What better way to get rid of all the thoughts weighing on your mind, than to share them will others. Then it also takes care of the surplus time on one’s hands. Yes, if I weren’t already blogging, I would have started one now!

5. Blogging aside, what inspires you the most?

Life inspires me. A chance remark, a snippet of a song or a line in a book. If we want to be inspired, life gives us countless hints.

My Questions;

How much time do you allocate to your blog, daily?

Do you feel positive about the future of the written blogs?

What is more important to you regarding your blog;

What types of blogs you are more likely to read?

How do you think a blogger can inspire others in the blogosphere?

My nomination;

Congratulations to all the nominees. You all very have inspiring blogs.

This award was created by Okoto Enigma

Three things about myself:

I love blogging and it has kept me busy and sane during this time.

I try to put a positive message in my posts. To my way of thinking, a post which doesn’t say something of importance, it is a wasted opportunity.

I enjoy interacting with my fellow bloggers almost as much as I enjoy creating my blog post. They are now my friends, or you can say, my blogging family.

Now we turn to the questions:

Here are Debby‘s questions:

1) Have you ever smiled at a stranger and then wished you hadn’t? Why or why not?

It has happened a few times that I have a stranger I met on a walk or on my way to some place and received a blank look in return. It didn’t leave a good flavor in my mouth. But I still smile at strangers.

2) What is your favorite SEO plugin for WordPress? Do you fully understand SEO’s and their functions or benefits?

No idea what a SEO is. So never have knowingly used any.

3) If you could shop for free at any store, which store would you choose and why?

Right now, a grocery store that has to be fully stocked with all the things we are finding hard to buy. I would get toilet paper, frozen riced veggies, breakfast items, whole wheat flour, and yeast!

4) If you could make one thing illegal, what would it be?

Hate. It would change the world if being hateful towards others was a serious crime.

5) Have you ever had SEO work done, and if so were you happy with the results? If you did the work yourself how did you do?

Nopes, never even thought about it.

My Questions;

What is your favorite cuisine?

When things get back to normal and you’re allowed to travel, where would you go?

There is a knock at the door; are you going to answer, though you aren’t expecting anyone?

How do you combat feelings of boredom?

If someone compliments you, what is your reaction?

My nominees;

Vincent Ehindero Blogger Award

Shweta has very kindly nominated me for Vincent Ehindero Blogger Award. She is a terrific blogger and you can find her blog here.

Thank the person that nominated you with a link to their blog.

• Make a post of the award (with a photo).

• Post the rules.

• Ask 5-10 questions of your choice.

• Nominate 10-30 other bloggers.

• Follow Vincent Ehindero at (to qualify for a free blog promotion and shoutout) and more blogging opportunities.

Here are her questions;

What’s the last movie that you watched?

Last Saturday, we watched “Princess bride” it’s an old Disney movie and I hadn’t heard of it. But it was funny in the tongue in cheek fashion. I really liked it. Before that, it was “Trolls, the world tour” and “Onwards”.

What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?

Stay in and sit near an open window to listen to it.

What are you doing to beat the lockdown blues?

I am very busy on weekdays because I am helping my grandson with his homeschooling. The rest of the time I blog, walk, and listen to music. It keeps me busy and away from thoughts of lockdown.

How long can you go without using your phone?

About 5 to 10 minutes! Max. Then I have to check it. Pretty bad I guess! 😛

What do you most value in your friends?

I really value sincere friends. Also, those who care. I want my friendships to be on an even keel. Nothing lopsided works for me.

Do you have a favorite fictional character? What makes her/him your favourite?

It used to be Ironman! But now, maybe Dr Strange. The reason is self-evident; they are Marvel Superheroes.

Winter or Summer?

Neither. I love the change. Winter giving way to spring and summer turning into fall. It generates a sense of excitement in me.

What is love, in your point of view?

Love is being thoughtful, kind, and accepting. It always expects reciprocation so it is a bit selfish.

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

Don’t have any favorites but right note we are watching ” The great British baking show” mostly old seasons.

If you could time travel, where (when?) would you go?

I would prefer to stay put. As my grandson says, don’t mess with time and space continuum. ( He has seen too many movies, especially Marvel movies)

A big thank you to Shweta once again.

I would nominate;

Carol Anne

I hope that you all can participate but if not, there is no pressure.

The creator of this award is Okoto Enigma

Melanie‘s Five Questions (Four + One Weird/Funny One)

  • Are you of the naughty or nice variety? …

I am naughty in a very nice way. I like being funny and like people to smile. If that means being a bit naughty, then I am. But I am careful never to be rude, crude or cruel!

  • What is the most hilarious childhood memory you can think of? …

Hilarious, in a theatrical way which only kids can be;

I was about twelve and my younger brother was two and was being cranky. I was trying to amuse him and took him near a window in the upstairs bedroom where we had a view of our next door house. When I pushed the glass pane to open the jammed window, my hand went straight through the glass, shattering it. My infant brother was very amused and thought it was for his benefit that I pulled this stunt. I was more concerned with the broken glass and noticed a while later that my hand and wrist had scratches which were oozing blood.

But at the moment, it was very funny.

  • Sexiest animal on the planet? …

A majestic cat, like a panther or a lion. It’s sleek and powerful, fitting the description of sexy!

  • What Is One Thing You Refuse To Share?

My personal space! I don’t like to share it with others. It’s not a physical space, it’s my comfort zone. I feel that I have earned the right to have a zone where I am myself, free from criticism and judgment.

  • If you could read minds, how would you use the gift? …

I would be afraid too. Though at times one thinks that we would like to know what the other person is thinking, in reality, we really would not want to know their private thoughts. God knows what they would be thinking!!!!

I am ignoring the rest of the rules. If any of my readers fancy, they can answer Melanie‘s very interesting questions.

Thank you, Melanie, once again for the shout out.
