Some people are born a ‘know it all’; they are overconfident about almost everything. Do you ever hear them saying, “Sorry but I’m not very sure/ knowledgeable about this subject”?
I bet you haven’t. They will boldly go where angels fear to tread and attempt to do things they have no idea how to do. And when things go south, as they are bound to go, they will blame the circumstances, and never themselves.
What to do to dampen their urge to take all matters into their not very experienced hands and perhaps leave things worse than they found them?
I’d suggest that you counter their efforts before they even start to tell you or show you how to do it by becoming a know-it-all yourself ( if only in an alternate reality). If you assure them that you know how to do it, it might deter them…… or it can result in a tug of war of who knows best!!!

Your prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “starts with over.”Find a word that starts with “over” and use it for your prompt. Enjoy!

Nothing worse than a cocky person. Sometimes they are overcompensating. I know someone just like that. Underneath his cockiness, he is very insecure.

Great post – aren’t overconfident people just really annoying, the terrible thing is it makes me want to see them fail 🙂

Thanks Angela. Yes they do bring up our vindictive side. 😅🥲

I had learned the word “I’ll try” from my mum. She said doing something you are sure of should also be done with a second thought, who knows where things could end?
Sometimes I also feel overconfident about things that I know but I fear I may overdo so I carefully implement on the words mummy told me.
Well written, Sadje ❤️

Thanks Phil. Older people are wise and it’s a sign of wisdom that we are never 100% sure.

Good for you older people. The younger generation should learn from your intelligence but there’s been traffic since AI will soon be dominating the world.
And, you’re welcome ♥️

I am overjoyed when overconfident people keep their opinion to themselves. Great thoughts Sadje.

I remember when my son was in kindergarten and he told his teacher, “My dad knows everything. He’s what you call a know-it-all.” 😅
