Sunday Poser # 130- Looking Ahead

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

This week my question is;

Do you still have a desire/ dream that you want to attain?

I realize that the word ‘still’ implies that;

We already have achieved all or most of our desires

Or

We are at that stage of life where we aren’t much motivated to attain our dreams.

So if you don’t fall into the above category, please ignore the ‘still’ and share what are the dreams you want to realize!

I always had a desire to learn Arabic and Persian. Both languages are bit familiar to me because my mother tongue, Urdu has been derived from these two languages in addition to Hindi and Turkish.

These languages are very old and not easy to learn. A month ago, I signed up to learn Arabic, especially Quranic Arabic. I have just seen three videos to date and I do hope to follow it through now that Ramadan is over. When I’m done with this, perhaps Persian?

Do you have a dream that you want to see fulfilled?

Please share your thoughts in the comments section or you can write your own post and link it to this one so that I can find it.

As usual, thanks of visiting and reading.

  1. I have a lot. I want to finish my writings in progress that I’ve abandoned. I want to read a zillion books, see lots of movies, and go to more art museums. I would love to relearn all the math I’ve forgotten and learn even more math. It would be great to learn new languages too!

  2. I feel, linked to a few recent posts, I’m already working on it … getting my life back and pursuing my dreams … being able to go exploring. And now I’m adding writing and blogging. Bo dreams or destination in mind … just enjoying the journey

            1. Yes it has changed over the years and publishing the traditional way is also become quite expensive too. But I hope you find a way to make this a reality that satisfies you.

  3. Gosh, I have desires every day! I don’t think I’ll ever stop coming across something that I’d like to do/accomplish/try. That’s probably my inquisitive nature. But as far as dreams to achieve, traveling as if I hadn’t a care or money issues would be awesome. After that, I think I’d just like to know what it feels like to be completely at peace. Guess I’ll find that out when I die. 😉

  4. So fun to learn another language. Arabic script is beautiful. That sounds like a goal you’ll enjoy pursuing because it is the original language of your faith. My goal is to increase my exercise this summer to 5 days a week; swimming, biking or walking.

  5. I still have a few things that I want to do, things I didn’t do when I was younger. One of them is run a marathon. I have always left for the ‘next year’ and the time goes so fast, now being a middle-age woman I said that it’s now or never. Last year I run 5K, this year I’m trying to do 1/2 marathon, I’ll try, but I know it will be difficult, probably I’ll keep up with the 5K. It’s already a big achievement for me. Thanks for asking! 🙂

  6. I too have something similar I am learning Sanskrit, the language most of the Hindu texts are. I hope I continue to do that. But I also want to read more of my language literature that is Tamil. I had read tiny bits here and there in school but never attempted to read in depth any. These are dreams that can be easily done from our desktop and will not make us go into financial debts. All the best with your dreams too. Learning language will definitely keep our brain sharp.

    1. Thanks Ganga! Yes so true that we just need time and determination to accomplish these goals. All the best to you too. Sanskrit is a very difficult language to master. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

  7. bold move Sadje, will keep your brain ticking! I often think of Persian as being the language of love, maybe because I love Persian poetry 🙂

    My latest dream is to master the technology in order to post quality podcasts and videos to YT 🙂

    1. Thanks Kate. Yes technology is a challenge for many, myself included. If you can ask someone to show you hands on them it’s will be better. I’ve never done anything with yt so I can’t offer any assistance

  8. Good to know you’re working on learning another language, Sadje. Let us know how that goes later on.
    I’d like to do the same. Spanish is a little closer to my mother tongue so I’ll revisit that as I forgot most of what I learned when I took up foreign language back in the day 😁

  9. I still want to learn ASL (American Sign Language) I took an online class last fall, and then life got in the way. Time to get back to learning and practicing! 💞

    1. Oh this was my father’s favorite couplet from Ghalib. He used to quote it to us when we demanded/ asked for things that weren’t in his capacity to buy for us. Thanks Indira for this beautiful share.
