Q and A with Rory

Are you utterly minimalistic in your lifestyle, an absolute clutterer hoarder, or just messy?

Definitely not messy or a hoarder. But not minimalistic either. I like things but I keep them organized. If I get something new, I’ll get rid of old things. I’m happy when my space is empty or sparsely populated.

Do you prefer to sit on a chair, cushion, bench, floor or something else for comfort and which?

Most assuredly, a comfortable chair with foot support if possible. Can’t sit on the floor as getting up can be a big hassle.

What is the most challenging part of your writing process?

Thankfully it’s been quite easy so far to write. Once I’ve created a draft post and selected an image to go with what I want to write, it’s easy sailing from there. Perhaps the most difficult part is to choose which prompts to write for and which ones to let go of.

Do you think you are an addictive or non-addictive personality?

I have a tendency to get addicted to games. That’s why like Paula, I too have deleted many games from my phone. I play a few card games on my spare phone to Keep my mind sharp, (that’s what I tell myself) but if I don’t find time to play, it’s not the end of the world.

Do you feel in any way, shape or form threatened by the arrival of AI [Artificial Intelligence] opportunities or welcome the progression into your life with ease?

No I don’t feel threatened by AI personally. I do feel however that this tool may rob people, especially our youngsters of the power to think, write and research. Only time will tell.

What subjects or topics inspire you to create the most concerning your writing?

Question that require me to just answer are on the top. Then anything to do with blogging is also a favored topic. I also am trying to try new poetic forms and participate in dVerse weekly challenges.

When was the last time you walked through a graveyard?

Maybe a year ago before my foot surgery, I visited my father’s grave to make dua ( praying to God for his departed soul) for him.

What are your top five favourite flowers?

Any flower which has a good fragrance. The top one is narcissi, roses, jasmine, night blooming jasmine (raat ki rani ) and tube roses.

What would you say would be your writing quirk?

I need peace and quiet when I’m thinking. Loud conversations, tv blaring on loud volume or even music played loudly can hinder my thinking and writing process. So I usually write late at night or early in the morning. And I like to be by myself when I write.

A big thank you to Rory for posing these questions

  1. Interesting answers Sadje. I deleted the games I had on my phone so I could focus on my blog. I also found, after dropping the main one, it reduced stress levels enormously too. I’m much happier writing.

I think jasmine is my favourite flower/scent, but I also love poppies. I also get excited when I see my houseplants flowering

  2. Well rounded answers Sadje. I am thankful l don’t have a mobile phone that has games on it, my personality leans towards a lack of moderation, so l tend to steer clear of many things now. I have a few games on my PC, but if l am ultra busy like l am of late, l am way too tired to play for long so grab 15 minutes a night to wind down, that’s not an addiction then, merely a chill down. Interesing answers all regarding the focus on writing and quirks 🙂

  3. Sadje, thank you for sharing! Love your answers. I feel the same about having peace and quiet while writing. Sometimes, though I do play music but not loud to give me some inspiration.
