I’m a great fan of order
Things need to happen in order
They need to be where I can find them
My routine needs to be followed to my satisfaction
I often think I’ve a touch of OCD
But I’m not that rigid that I cannot adapt
But I do like things to be in order, done in order
➰➰➰

From chaos comes the order we require
For organization is how we find comfort
If we look closely, even in the chaos
We find everything in meticulous order
➰➰➰

What beautiful thoughts, Sadje. They echo and like how.
Especially:
From chaos comes the order we require
For organization is how we find comfort
If we look closely, even in the chaos
We find everything in meticulous order

Order is wonderful, except when I am creating things like quilts or scrapbooks. I live in chaos then. Luckily, I insist on returning things to order once I’m done.

Creating things demand disorder, but yes once done the order is restored.

It’s two days past my 4th chemo. So far so good. Historically this has been the hardest day.

I’m a fan of order and routine, also. I used to joke with my coworkers and tell them I could be
flexible, as long as I was told in advance (lol)!

Lol! Me too. But I’m getting better with age.

I don’t think there’s anything OCD about it. I’m just like you. Especially — ESPECIALLY — in the kitchen where when I’m cooking. The last thing I need is to be running around the kitchen trying to find that particular spatula or the pan I need. I want things where I want them and not where somebody else decides to put them. My husband is hopeless. He doesn’t cook and has no concept that things go with similar things and NOT wherever there isn’t something else.
The only time I lose something is when I decide to put it “someplace safe.” Which means I may NEVER find it again.

Haha! I do that too , put things somewhere safe and don’t find them. Though they turn up when least expected.

I lost my favorite jewelry for more than two years and found it one day — accidentally — in the piano bench. I have NO idea how or when I put it there.

Perhaps you took it off, meaning to put it back but forgot. It happened to me too. Found one of a pair of my daughter’s earring in an old handbag while cleaning it. No idea hope or when it got there. I’m just glad that her pair is complete.

Except I take exception to the idea that nature is chaotic. It is anything but. It is exceptionally ordering. Humans are disorderly. Nature is very tidy and neat.

It may seem chaotic but like you said in reality everything is where it should be.

I think nature knows exactly where everything belongs. We mess it up and we just don’t seem able to stop.

Having order, say in our homes, can help minimise the chaos in our minds

Oh, i agree Sadje….in order we create an environment where peace is abundant.
Pls check my post on the book to which you’ve written a foreword.
Thank you Sadje for sharing your beautiful words with us on that book.

I can hardly write without having to put events in chronological order. Poetry is hard because I even want it in order. Finding things – haha. I love your handbag story. And I try to have a place or two or three for everything, so I can find it again. 🙂

Me too! Sometimes that’s in chaos, but if I know where they are, that’s the order. 🙂 I’m not OCD.

In routine and order I find comfort and solace. I can adapt as necessary…but love falling back into familiar routines. Beautifully stated, Sadje! 💞💞💞
