“Nothing is enough for the man (woman) to whom enough is too little.” – Epicurus.
➰➰➰
The material possessions fill our lives
More and more we demand till the end
That elusive feeling of contentment is rare
Do we ever say it is enough for us now
Only those are happy who are satisfied
With all they need, and not all they want

I haven’t been able to read due to moving to a larger home. This hits straight to the heart. I lived in my RV for 4 years. It was then I truly learned “contentment”. My creator and I talk about it daily. It has been hard adjusting to something bigger, NEEDING more things,…it’s all good as I know my sons and families can all stay with me (particularly on this cancer journey). Your beautiful poem hits straight to my soul about how little I truly need. I miss my minimalism and am keeping things “as needed” only. It’s all stuff! It’s not going with me!

We can’t take anything and what we consider necessary is often just desire. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I hope you get better soon.

Epicurus taught that “Pleasure is the principle and end to a happy life.”

End as in a goal or end as in ending! It’s both for different people!

Epicurus was a hedonist, believing that the pursuit of pleasure is the most important thing in life.

Oh I see. Well it was the end ( goal) for him them. But for many too much of anything can be the end to happiness.

I consider the need of choosing a limit.
Like, when you have ate ‘enough’ food, there’s no need to take more.

I’m good, Sadje.
Regular classes as well as competitive exam preparation both are on the correct tract.
They guide my daily lifestyle.

I am in the process of letting go of things I don’t need or use. It is incredible all the things I had to have that I didn’t need and now don’t want.

I keep on doing that and it’s so liberating

I think I do too. I am however always trying to downsize.
