“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
VS
“Break the mold.”
Which of these do you believe, as pertaining to your blogging?
➰➰➰
When I started blogging, I belonged to the first club. I’d do what worked for me and stick to the familiar style.
It was with the encouragement of my blogging friends that I started experimenting with different forms of writing. Fiction was something that I was very reluctant to try but I gradually did start writing fiction too. Recently, on encouragement of my fellow poets on WP, I’ve started to experiment with a few poetry prompts too. It feels good to follow the guidelines of the prompt and write something half-decent for a poetry challenge.
Stepping out of our comfort zone is not easy, especially as we get set in our ways. But once you get into the habit of breaking the mold, you find that anything that challenges you, attracts you.
In conclusion, I’d say that if you feel that what you write on a routine basis works best for you, stick to it. But if challenging yourself makes you feel better and you learn more then do break the mold and try new things.

I am relating to everything you wrote Sadje G. I always enjoy reading and writing and playing with words, But I never knew I could manipulate my words too… And the support from this community helped me push myself and challenge myself.
Gratitude to you… For your subtle encouraging comments. It started there for me… Shukran always🤍🤗

Great advice, especially for a blog that you’re writing voluntary. Write what brings you peace, for some that will may be sticking to old habits, for someone else that may be challenging themselves with a new style, tone, or even message. Readers may like or not . .. but you have to be happy with what you put out in the world.

I enjoy the variety of your posts. Also, the brevity. I’d say my blogging follows my life and I mix it up with opinions on articles I find interesting. It’s a work in progress, like my life.

I get bored with my blog and change it on a whim, but you’re right it can be hard to instigate change

Right now, LIFE is challenging enough. I’m very happy doing what I do well and not doing anything if I don’t feel like it. I’ve always wanted to find this kind of balance and contentment. Even with all the serious and scary issues in the world around me, I feel I’ve come home to where I ought to be — both personally and on the blog.

When I started a blog on Medium I tried to post the same things as my WordPress site, but they weren’t as popular. I had to change things up and write in different ways to get more readers.

My experience of medium ( just reading) wasn’t that great. I love the community here on WP.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I’ve connected with some decent people and some talented writers. I may have been lucky as far as how I was able to make those connections.

Variety is the spice of life. However when we expect something to work in a certain way, like an appliance or a general rule for safety – breaking the mold can be annoying. I read that in one state only electric cars will be permitted after a certain year, but in another state they will ban electirc cars!
I have always put forth in writing anyway, one needs to enjoy what they are doing. And as far as a blog… it is the owner or host that is allowed to create the way they choose.

Yes you’re so right, in writing or blogging, they should do what’s comfortable and feels right.
