In my solitude

This image is from Pinterest

For the visually challenged writer, the photo shows a woman lying in a rope hammock that’s built into a wood deck attached to house in the woods on an autumn day. She seems to be staring up at the sky above her and daydreaming.

Lying high on my makeshift bed

Looking up the periwinkle sky

Thinking deeply, I examine my life

I exhume my buried emotions, sad and happy both

And find peace within myself for all that’s passed

I am sanguine, never forlorn or anxious

Though I’m libel to slip down the precipice

Of dark thoughts if I let go of this rope of hope

Here peace prevails, like the stars in the night sky

Give me serenity and I find my long lost friend

The joy of contentment I’ve been looking for

  1. A beautiful poem of reflection Sadje. It is the time of year when we all seem to take stock of what’s past and look forward to what is yet to come. Thanks for including Five Word Weekly in your post.
