Jim says; For Friday Faithfuls this week, I would like to know;
What you think about climate change. How serious of a problem is this?
This year we had unprecedented flooding in our country. It’s a sign of climate change. We suffered huge losses of life and property. I think anyone who denies climate change/ extreme weather is either deluding themselves or is a victim of fake news propaganda.
Do you think that man will be able to slow down or possibly reverse global warming?
It is possible to do both if we have the will. When Covid hit the world in 2020, due to the lockdowns, environmental pollution went down significantly. If we stop using fossil fuels too much, control carbon emissions and be more mindful of our carbon footprint, things can get better.
Do you think that scientists will be able to get control of the carbon dioxide that is warming the Earth and save us before it is too late?
If we divert enough resources toward research then there’s no reason that we cannot find an answer to this problem. It just takes a collective will to do that.
Do you think that we will be able to reach the ambitious goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 as called for in the Paris Agreement to keep global warming to no more than 1.5°C?
That seems a tall order given the attitude of developed nations. If we all did cooperate in reducing carbon emissions, we might just be able to do it.
Do you want to breathe cleaner air and be able to drink fresher water?
Of course, we all would like to breathe cleaner air, see a bluer sky and leave a planet for our next generations where they won’t have to worry that extreme weather would destroy their habitats.
Do you feel bad that this is happening?
I feel very bad that due to the selfishness of mega-rich oil companies, we are not taking any concrete steps toward rectifying this situation. I hope that we don’t get to the point where coming back would be impossible.

Well said! People driving alone in cars is a huge problem here, but we don’t have the collective will and long term attitude to invest in a good public transportation system 🙁

Thanks Paula. In Seattle they have very good public transport system. In fact going to downtown in a car is a big challenge as there is very few parking spaces available for them.

I enjoyed reading your very inciteful post, Sadje. You have a great attitude, and you always offer hope that things can improve. I hope that the collective will kicks in before it is too late, because as you said we are reaching the point where it may become impossible to come back from the mess that we have made out of our planet.

Jim, if we lose hope, we lose everything. So I’ll always try to stay hopeful. Thanks for your kind words

I echo your sentiments Sadje. Perhaps we cannot get to zero emissions soon; but I too hope that our efforts will not amount to: “too little too late”

I don’t think it’s possible. There is going to have to be another drastic event in the timeline. It’s human nature to expand. We can’t help it. Unless we find a different world to sustain life. Solely based on the principle of diminishing returns one or the other would have to happen at some point.

If it happens that way then it’ll be our own fault.

During covid in our region rain started during summer and it seemed we were in Arunachal Pradesh where there is no summer effects. So yes, it’s possible to slow down global warming. People are aware but now world leaders are also showing concerned about it and taking many major steps. It can’t become overnight. But one day definitely we will be able to control the situation.

“collective will” to do it is what we need to focus our energies on to sway those on the fence

Firmly agree with your points here Sadje, I pray that we all act asap. That greedy oil companies are forced to share their excess profits to clean up the damage they’ve caused … they should be held accountable!

Question number 2, it’s possible if people of the world come together through their governments to fight climate change. Climate change is a real danger and people round the world shouldn’t wait, action is needed through governments. When forest cover of the world is being reduced, where are this governments and what are they doing by their various parliaments?

Most developed countries aren’t doing much, just adding to the problem.

Greedy corporations don’t think like we do, they only think on progressions they could advance into.
We are thinking now as in today with some links to the future but these giant think tanks are already looking at the state of play 1, 5, 10 years ahead of today, they’ll have a contingency.

Developed Nations are the major cause of the problem on climate. Something fun is that, they are most developed but also most polluted than the underdeveloped.

Thank for the information and sharing you thoughts about it.
We are all victims of this toxic corporate advertising pollution money culture.
We have to reallise that we are victims of this toxic culture and then we will start question ourselves and drop our unhuman behaviors that we adopted from our families and are amplified from this toxic culture we are living. Then we will start trully discovering our selves and our human behaviors and with that knowledge help other people and protect the earth that gave life to us.

If you want, here you can hear and see my new song and artworld called “The theater of lies in the blood red carpet of a disaster nightmare realm”.This song talks about this subject. Also, this song talks about “senseless acting” and how multinational corporations use this to manipulate people in order to make more profits and with that polluted the whole planet.
Have a great creative day!!!

We are suffering either from flood or drought. Economy derailing. Still foolish, selfish opposition makes life hell for govt. if it takes some harsh measures for the betterment of the common man. Those are excellent sensible answers.
