Coming home after a shopping trip, she stopped in her tracks as she entered the living room. Oh my, what happened?
The chaos in the room spoke for itself. The toys littered everywhere, and a glass of milk spilled. A child could be heard crying, somewhere.
With concern, she went to her daughter’s bedroom. Her grandson was crying, and his mother admonishing him.
She entered after knocking and a silent look passed between the two grown-ups. Her daughter left the room. Hugging her grandson, she said nothing. The love poured from her heart to his and the crying stopped.

A grandmother’s love really is something special.

Oh yes, very much so. Not that any of my grandmothers displayed that. Very rigid and cold they were.

A gramma’s love is different from any other. Maybe because of her experience with her children in what is truly important and what is not. Or maybe because it isn’t a daily 24-hour task.

I think it’s both. You’re so right that the love of a grandmother is indeed special.

There is the saying that it would be so much easier if we could be Grandparents 1st… 😀
The other saying is that parents need to parent and can only be friends with their children after they have parented! 😉

Both are true Jules. We can’t be friends with our young children. Otherwise the parenting will be affected.

There are many successful ways as well as unscucessful ways to parent.

…and as a parent it is sometimes hard to let our children make mistakes… But we cannot protect them from every heartbreak. Just be there when asked… *sigh*
