TODAY’S QUOTE
“Blogs are whatever we make them. Defining ‘Blog’ is a fool’s errand.” — Michael Coniff
➰➰➰
Since it’s hard to find two blogs that are exactly alike, I think that describing a blog accurately is difficult too.
The concept of a personal blog carries a different meaning for the person writing that blog. So it could be an online diary for one blogger or a place to share poetry or stories for another. For some their blog is a way of venting personal feelings and sharing their experiences with others who are undergoing similar situations.
For me, blogging is all about self-expression. So my description of a blog will differ from that of someone else who blogs for a different reason.
Whatever way you describe a blog, there’s no one size fits all description. It is a personalized space, to be utilized as per the exclusive wishes of the blogger. I think that’s the best feeling ever.

You’re right, and I’ve read SO MANY different kinds. With some, I’ve wondered how they can have so many followers when posting such drivel?! Lol. I guess everyone is entertained by different things.

Haha! You know I also have similar thoughts when reading some blogs!!!
And yes, we all have different preferences so it’s okay that we don’t/ can’t like what someone else likes.

Very true Sadje. I think it would be almost impossible to pin down a single definition. There are some blogs with a very clear focus and you can pigeonhole it. While others are dynamic, changing and adapting/growing with the person

So right Brenda. I think the versatility of a blog is what makes it so attractive.

Honestly, I’m not the person who really loves writing and reading when I was a kid. I used to write novels, then poetry. And here I come mumbling too much on my blog. 😂 I found more peace writing a blog.

I agree too. A blog is a reflection of the writer. It’s lovely that way. So diverse, and inspiring.

I think your definition of a blog is one of the best I have ever come across.

I agree. Blogs for business and personal use differ. All the personal use blogs are unique and each one running a personal blog should have the freedom to do what makes them happy. 🙂

Yes Sadje, right as rain. A blog is a content and it is writing what comes to your mind and if you are a writer or you love writing, it means you can blog. In as much as a person who is not a chef can also Cook if they love food

This helps us define our blog. We couldn’t put a finger into it, but we know we wanted to create content out of our experience.

I have only been blogging for a little over a year now, but before that, I would constantly write anything from diary type material to poems. I really enjoy blogging because I feel like I can release a part of myself that I wouldn’t normally share with anyone yet here I am sharing it with the world. I find blogging extremely cathartic, and I have no plans on stopping anytime soon!

Blogs definitely come in all shapes and sizes. I agree, they are very much an expression of the blogger…as they should be, hopefully. Good post.

True. I’ve settled comfortably on describing mine as a “boutique.” It offers memoir, essays, vignettes and the occasonal travelogue. Nice post – thank you!
