Di has very graciously stepped in while Melanie has some technical issues.
Questions
1. When you go food shopping, do you go with a list or amble down the aisles putting things in your basket or cart that you fancy or think you need?
Well, I should make a list and buy stuff accordingly. But I forget. If there is a list, it stays at home or I don’t make it at all, thinking that I’ll remember what I need. So you can imagine what is the result! I buy stuff I don’t need and don’t get the things I need. That usually results in having another shopping trip.
2. When the temperatures drop for the colder months, is there a specific date you put the heating on or do you flick the switch when you start to feel cold?
We are lucky to live in a city where it gets cold very late and that too for a short while. I usually don’t want my room to be very hot and prefer to wear a shawl or sweater instead. So only my husband switches on the heating but that too for a short while.
3. Keeping with the cold theme, do you prefer a hot water bottle or an electric blanket at night?
Neither. We use lightweight quilts and I sleep with my feet poking out of it. I have an electric heating pad which I use when I have pain in my shoulders or ankle. But not for a longer period.
4. How do you feel about log burners? Do you think they are messy or cosy?
I remember when we were very young my father was posted in Azad Kashmir which used to be very cold in winter. They had a Quetta stove installed in the living room and it would warm up the bedrooms as well. That went out of fashion with the discovery of natural gas reservoirs in Pakistan. But they were cost-effective and cheap.
Gratitude:
When was the last time you laughed out loud?
My grandkids make me laugh, but right now due to a bad cough I prefer not to laugh as it tiggers a coughing fit.

Thanks a lot Di for your immediate response to the absence of Melanie’s post. Fun questions.

I do the same with a shopping list. I make one and leave it at home!

I thought the tree’s a mimosa which has a nice delicate baby powder scent. 🙂 But looking more closely at the leaves, I’m not sure. Get well soon, Sadje!

Thanks Dora. It has beautiful white and pink blooms but higher up so I’ve never had the chance to sniff them.

I should write a shopping list, invariably I come home with stuff I hadn’t intended to buy and missing things I really needed! As for electric blankets, I have an irrational fear of being electrocuted!

I’ve never used an electric blanket, they are not a think here. I like cushy quilts.

I make a list but end up buying more than what is there.
I hope you feel better soon, Sadje. It’s flu season here and it’s making its rounds

Having asthma there have been times I can recall laughing that was uncomfortable in the end. Having a cold and laughing is the same. Hope you’re on the mend.
