I am writing to express my opinion, share my experiences and to maybe provide some insight. My blog is addressing women at 50 ( but men are welcome to read my posts) ,their issues and the questions that come up at this stage in life. I don’t aim to teach, but to learn together.

Multiple neurons in the brain must fire in synchrony to create persistent memories tied to intense emotions, and memories linked with strong emotions often become seared in the brain.
Yes…
but loosing a friend that wasn’t a true friend – like breaking up with a boy-girlfriend that wasn’t nice… Sometimes people gently drift away. Like relatives that you don’t see often enough.
When love is that deeply embedded, the joy of having experienced it gives us pleasure, but the memory of having experienced the loss brings us to our knees. Beautifully written, Sadje! ❤

They can be. And despite our efforts to forget them, they linger

Beautiful. Sorrow and joy both never forgotten. How the mind keeps its treasures for the right key.
Lovely writing Sadje. ✍️

That’s memories for you. Powerful. So good they don’t leave like people do

Yup, always there at the back of the mind and popping up like unwanted visitors.

They do, The song Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond), and Pressure (from Encanto) both make me smile and cry.

This is how I feel as well when reading my old diary. I also cringe at the one I had back when I was in highschool hehe

I was just going through some old pen pal papers… lost over several decades.
I’m sure that is less painful a loss than a love. 😉
