TODAY’S QUOTE :
” Successful blogging is not about one time hits. It’s about building a loyal following over time. ” — David Aston
➰➰➰
In blogging terminology, someone who reads your blog is called a follower!
I follow around 200-300 blogs and my blog is read by around the same number of people. On paper, the stats say that over 6700 people follow my blog but the actual number of people who visit, read or comment on my posts is not more that 200-300!
If I’m asked why these people visit my blog regularly and read what I write, my response would be that I think they can relate to my writing and like it, that’s why they are regular visitors.
I’d be lying if I say that it doesn’t matters to me if people read my blog or not, because the sole reason of publishing my posts where everyone can see them is to invite people to read them and perhaps gain something out of them.
There are many blogging platforms but what’s unique about WordPress is its lovely community. It’s an all-inclusive place, welcoming new people every day. We have managed to build bonds via our writing and exchange of comments and these bonds are quite precious to us all. We feel like close friends, even like family members, though it’s unlikely that we’d ever meet in real life.
I agree with this quote and feel lucky to have connected with such awesome people on my blogging journey.

I find it interesting that you can read and ‘meet’ so many creative people in different parts of the world. Hello from the UK!

I’ve been writing a personal blog *forever* and am constantly amazed by the interesting, insightful, and humorous people I’ve met along the way. I do take umbrage with the idea of followers, though. I think of my gentle readers as friends. Of course, I’m old school.

Of course, the term follower makes it sound like a cult, whereas we are friends, dropping in for a chat and hi! Thanks Ally.

EXACTLY! I am not a cult leader, nor part of any of them.

Agreed, blogging is about finding community beyond our usual borders. First-time visitors may move on, but they may also have marked a little place, for memory’s sake . . . cross our path another day.
But those who really tune & revisit keep us going in regularity, motivated to provide little comforts and points of interest. Great #blogginginsights, #keepitalive!

Everyone has said it all already. You produce thoughtful, insightful work Sadje and as Lokesh said, you are welcoming and encouraging to new bloggers.
I also agree with the quote, we may write for ourselves, but why publish on a blog if its not in the hope that someone else may benefit from it

I’m thinking about retiring the blog. I have about 20 people who read it, takes me about 6 hours a week to post everything. Just don’t know if it’s worth the effort

I like to think that we only ever get 1–5% of our audience to participate, so you’re on point there with your numbers. I too am seeing the same numbers, in that this is the percentage that will actively read and engage, even though the total subscribers figure is much higher. And it’s all about that 1% for sure!
