Farming β Image by KL Caley
For visually challenged writers, the image shows a red tractor busy in the field.

Toiling for long days
In hot summer or cold winter
They grow food to feed us all
Man and animal alike are indebted
To the farmers who forsake their rest
So that there is always plenty to eat for us
Heartfelt gratitude to them from us all.
πππ
Farmers are seldom acknowledged for their services to the rest of the community. Thanks, KL for this image, for it reminds us to express our gratitude to them.

Yes, they work so hard and deal with the uncertainties of bad weather, etc. each day.

Indeed they do and all that work is still dependent upon weather for good crop.

I have never been on a farm, but I bet it would be a nice place to visit, as long as they had the internet.

They probably do have internet. It looks like a great place to visit.

I was thinking about this topic a few weeks back. Yes, Sadje I appreciate their work very much. We can’t all be farmers and those that do the work are to be respected.

Indeed that true. They stay in the background and are seldom appreciated. In my country most are small scale farmers, doing things singly.

Here is is the opposite mostly. Large scale farms are the only ones that can thrive. Having said that the smaller ones rely on farmers markets and local stores which are heavily supported in the communities.

Yes, I know. Our farmers are poor and dependent upon large food industries to buy their produce.

Such a lovely acknowledgement to our wonderful farmers, Sadje. My little one has a tractor addiction so we have been to a few farming shows and farm open days this past year. As smart and advanced as humans are there is no truer statement than “Despite all of our accomplishments, we owe our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.” Thank you to our farmers for nurturing our grounds to feed our world. Too many farms are lost, some to inheritance taxes. The family has to sell the land to pay the taxes!
Thankfully we do have a farm preservationist group that has ‘saved’ several farms in our area.
It takes love of land and tremendous work to be a farmer and a farming family – whatever is grown.
