When a child finds the wonder of starlight
Her eyes bedazzled by the sparkling lights
The joy on her face is a beauty to witness
Makes you believe once again in the power
Of the unseen , of the uncomprehendable
That we surely can see but never tire of wondering about!

Makes me think of chasing fireflies at my sister’s house in Iowa. We didn’t have them in South Dakota, at least my part of it.

Thank you so much Eugi. Yes the children have the ability to induce even the jaded adults to see through their eyes 💖

Would be so wonderful to be able to see through the eyes of a child again…what joy they can find in the most mundane situations. Why did we have to grow out of that? Beautifully written, Sadje!

Thanks Dawn! I think that’s the cost we pay of growing up, the loss of that wonder.

A lovely piece. Sadje, I realized one of the ways to truly appreciate art (like writing a poem from a picture prompt ) is to write down the first fresh impressions created on the mind. Now, lots of fresh impressions occur to the mind of a child. If children wrote poetry and novels, I think we would be reading some of the greatest pieces in human history.
I love this post. A thought-provoking post. Brilliant.

Thank you so much Benjamin. I think I composed poems in my head when I was young. Children do have wonderful imagination, it’s the words they still haven’t acquired

Some of the most mundane things to us can really spark the interest of a child’s eyes.
