September Poetry Challenge- A Gentle Zephyr

This month we will write a free verse elemental poem using the theme of wind. Choose to write about a breeze, a head wind, tornado... You are not required to use the word wind. For the challenge, write up to eight lines without rhyming. Rated G please.

We’ll use the literary device of anaphora. Anaphora is the repetition of a phrase, named by the Greeks.

A gentle zephyr playing with the soft petals

A gentle zephyr tangling your soft brown hair

A gentle zephyr reminding me that spring is here

A time to rejoice and rejuvenate with the earth

The cold stark days of winter are finally over

And it is time to grow new flowers and plant new trees

It’s time to open the windows and let in the breeze

The heart is overflowing with the joy of being alive
