Second chance or rebirth

The prompt is a theme again…

Rebirth

➰➰➰

What is rebirth?

A second chance at life?

A chance to do better than before

Or to be born in a form totally different from the first one?

Intriguing questions that perhaps no one can answer with any certainty. For even if people are reborn, they don’t come back with memories of a previous life lived on this earth.

Though I don’t believe that we are given different forms on rebirth on this earth, I do believe that in one lifetime, we are sometimes given a chance to become a better person. A person who has decided to take a new form, abandoning their old traits.

That’s why this phenomenon is often referred to as turning a new page or reinventing oneself. In fact, it is for many, a part of growing. To learn from past mistakes and experiences and do better. It would not be an apparent revolutionary change in the person’s appearance, but rather insidious. They will perhaps look the same but act and behave differently.

To my way of thinking, it would denote a newer and improved version of the old self, or to use modern lingo, version 2.0!

Do you believe in reincarnation or rebirth in the traditional sense?

  1. The first business entity I created after quitting the job was called ReInventions – not just because it was about image and career coaching, but also because I was reinventing myself. Version 2.0 is a term I frequently use in my profiles.

  2. I find the subject of reincarnation fascinating, but I don’t believe in it. Also I remember when my brother and his girlfriend became “Born Again” which was a popular notion in their Presbyterian church. I agree with you in “turning the page” and becoming a better person.

    1. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts EA. I don’t believe in reincarnation either but the event you described is very common. The thing to hope for is that changes are for the better.

  3. I guess we won’t know until the end of this incarnation whether there’s any such thing as reincarnation. I kind of hope there is, but then I also hope for the traditional view of the afterlife, particularly the whole Rainbow Bridge thing where I see all the cats who left little pawprints on my heart.

  4. I don’t believe in reincarnation of the physical body. But when it comes to the spiritual matters, especially when one transforms his ways of life from old bad ways of living into becoming a new version 2.0 as you said it is very true
