This week Dan is standing in for Linda and this is what he has set for SoCS this week.
Your prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “cent/scent/sent.” Use them in any form you like. Use one, use two or use them all. Bonus points if you use all three, and Cheryl will put your next drink on David’s tab. I know, you used to get bonus points for two, but inflation… Enjoy!

What is the value of one cent you ask?
In my country, one dollar is equal to 212 Rs as of today. It’s both inflation and devaluation of our currency that we are losing ground against the dollar and other currencies.
When the sharks in water sense an injured person, they are attracted to the scent of the blood. And similarly, opportunists are moving in to take advantage of this deteriorating scenario in our country. They are buying foreign currency and driving up the value of the dollar even further. Meanwhile, our economy is suffering badly and anything that is imported has at least doubled in price.
Only the money sent by the overseas Pakistanis is helping us stay afloat. It’s a tragic scenario because it needn’t be like this. All these corrupt politicians are to be blamed for this disaster.
I’m sorry that this is a bleak post but the prompts took my mind here.

Politicians everywhere are more concerned with their personal or political fortunes that those of everyday people. Sorry. But you did a good job on the prompt.

Thanks a lot Dan. Yes, unfortunately that’s the truth world over.

Is the Shehbaz Sharif government responsible for this?

Mostly. They are all on bail for corruption cases.

You did a great job expressing what you’re feeling. We’re feeling the same here. Last year gas was $2.10 per gallon. Yesterday I bought gas and it was $6.05! Everything else is higher too.

Yes, when gas prices go up, everything goes up too.

Great post, Sadje. No need to apologize ~ it’s difficult to continually be optimistic with the sad state our world is in at the moment.

Thanks June. Yes, it’s very true and makes me angry that people are still being selfish and self-serving.

I went to the grocery store today. Bought the same stuff as usual and paid a third more than just a few weeks ago. Those with families must be having a really difficult time.

Yes it’s the same all over the world and people are feeling the pinch very badly

The whole huge inflation on oil is also corruption both of politicians AND of the oil companies who want us to believe we cannot survive without them. Rather a sad state of affairs all around.

Very true and very unfortunate. It’s time to go electric or solar.

It’s okay to express depressing thoughts, too. If we ignore them too much, they eat at us.

Politicians are so self serving, which goes against their duty. I often wonder why they aren’t charged for breaking the laws which put them in these positions of authority in the first place

I think the same but unfortunately the whole system is protecting them.

Oh wow 😮 so the same thing that is happening in Lebanon is happening in India too? People here are surviving on money sent from relatives living in the US or Europe.
