Sharing my world- 5/16/22

Melanie, our gracious host of SYW, has posed these interesting questions today;

QUESTIONS

Do you become discouraged by the annual “Blogging Ennui” phenomenon that comes around every year? (it’s early this year IMO) (blogging ennui means (to me) a distinct slow down in writing and participation, which lasts an indefinite period of time).

Not really! In fact, it gives me a breathing space. I agree that the usual number of posts has fallen down and many bloggers are missing in action. But I guess they have their reasons. One thing that I suspect is that not all posts are showing from all the bloggers in my reader. Maybe another WP glitch?

If you were in a room filled with you and your doppelganger (someone who looks exactly like you do. Supposedly everyone has at least one out there in the world) and 2 billion dollars, what would you do? What do you think your doppelganger would do?

A very interesting question. I’d split the money with my doppelgänger and leave as soon as possible. The doppelgänger may look like me but how can I trust her? She may want all the money for herself.

A building is burning. You have time to either save a child trapped inside or a valuable painting which you would then sell, using the money to save 20 children from starvation. What would you do and why?

Of course, I’ll save the child. Saving a child from certain death is more important than a painting, no matter how valuable it may be. As for saving 20 kids from starvation, we don’t need to sell paintings for that. It takes very little to feed a child; an open heart and a generous mind can do that without going to those limits.

What’s your opinion of yams or sweet potatoes?

I love them. Not the way people eat them in the west but the way we eat them here. After roasting them in coals with skin on, it is peeled, and cubed. It’s them drenched in chat masala and lemon juice. Yummy!

Full moon on 5/15/22
My phone decided to change the full moon into something dramatic!

Thanks Melanie for once again posing very interesting questions.

  1. I’ve gotten kind of used to the ebb and flow in the world of blogs and just kind of float through it. I agree about saving the child from the house, and your version of sweet potatoes sounds wonderful.

  2. I agree about posts not appearing, I have at least one person a week who disappears, I go find them, read their posts, and a few days later they’re back 🙄

    1. Yes that’s happening alright. And if I open the reader after a gap of a few hours, I’ll see some of the posts from one blogger but not all! 😢

  3. My camera did the same thing. This was one of those rare moments when I really REALLY needed a tripod — which was at home in the trunk of my car. I’m not sure what that trail is, but I think — just guessing — that’s its the movement of the moon and us. When something is that far away, a little motion goes a very long way.

      1. It looks very odd, but I have to assume that is is motion — ours and the moon, which as planets go, moves pretty fast. ALL my pictures have that same trail and in some cases, multiple moons showing. So it wasn’t just your phone. It was trying to hold the camera steady at night to show a moving object when we too were moving, even if rather slightly.

  4. Thanks for Sharing Your World Sadje! What beautiful photography even with the UFO stripe in it! 😉 Yams (sweet potatoes…there’s some subtle difference but I don’t know what it is) are a staple in America around Thanksgiving time. I make a good casserole that’s more like a dessert (if you asked me, as I don’t care for them and don’t eat the dish) to take to the family Thanksgiving dinner in past years. My brother and one or two of his sons love them too. Your way of preparing them sounds delicious! We have gotten a trend/fad of sweet potato fries over here too. Very prudent answer to the money question…what would we really know about someone else, even if they had our face? So taking your half of the money and skedaddling sounds very wise! You’re right about the burning building question. It doesn’t take a lot to feed children and your answer was very sweet! Thanks! 😀 Have a splendid week!

    1. Thank you so much Melanie! I’ve had sweet potato fries and I’d rather not have them again. No fun. We eat the yams/ sweet potatoes only in this way. There’s no other use for them except I think sugar is made from their juice too.

      1. I’m not fond of the fries either (don’t much care for the vegetable at all really). Your way of preparation might be worth a try though. If they didn’t bread everything (including those fries) and then deep fry it in grease or lard, I probably wouldn’t mind. Tempura sweet potato ‘fries’ are the bomb though! Very lightly breaded, flash fried, and crispy and good. But I like tempura overall.

  5. I do think there is something about posts not showing in people’s reader. I know many bloggers that are still having that issue. It’s so random too. I adore your answer to the doppelgänger question, agreed! And the sweet potatoes you write of are delicious. So yummy. Thanks for sharing, Sadje.

    1. Thanks Jeff. Even today I had to hunt down Fandango’s story starter post. I don’t know how why it’s happening but it’s frustrating. Thanks again for the detailed response. 😍
