Chopping has never been my strong or safe suit. While chopping, I’m likely to cut a finger or two. Not all the way, thankfully but a nick is definitely on the cards. I’ve gotten those gadgets that one can use to chop or slice veggies but in my hands, they aren’t safe either. I have slice bits of my fingers with the carrots.

They say practice makes us perfect so I guess I need to do a lot more practice yet for I’m in no way perfect. I envy those people who I see on the cooking shows who slice, dice and chop at lightening speed without hurting themselves or anyone else in the process.

Till such time that I become perfect at chopping, I’ll try to be as careful as I can for I do need all my fingers and thumbs.

  2. I’ve learned a few things from cooking shows…If you have the blade in a position where it can do damage – move it!
    And always, always curl your fingers in on the food you are holding. One Chef said to you (especially if you are using a larger knife) that you shoud have the top part of the knife use your holding hand knuckle as a guide. Take your time! Home cooks do not need to rush 😀
