Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

This week my question is;
How truthful are you?
To be honest, not many would admit to telling lies/fibs. But we all do. It’s either to save our skin/dignity or to save others from being hurt or humiliated.
I do tell fibs when I think an honest opinion will hurt someone’s feelings. Or sometimes I do it when I’ve forgotten to do something and don’t want to be scolded for it. But mostly my brain and tongue overtake my desire to be prudent and I blurt out the truth and sometimes it has even more dire consequences than telling the truth. Like saying something that would’ve better be left unsaid or telling others what I think about their dress, shoes, etc, and offending them.
What about you? Do you always tell the truth or can you tell a white lie to save the situation?
Please share your thoughts in the comments section or you can write your own post and link it to this one so that I can find it.
As usual, thanks of visiting and reading.

I tend to say nothing and keep silent if it’s something hurtful or best not said.

I’m quite truthful if I offer my opinions but a lot of the time I keep my views to myself.
Barefaced lies are usually things like “your hair looks wonderful, dear”, when the truth is more “you think I care?”

My intention is to always tell the truth, but I’d be lying if I said I’ve never lied. lol We all do for various reasons.

Yes Susi we do it. Good people do it for selfless reasons and others for selfish ones.

I speak my truth mostly, though there are times when my truth is of a personal nature, or would confuse someone I am working with. In these situations, I improvise, code for a small untruth, which is usually correlated to the truth in some way. Excellent question, Sadje.

Oh wow , secret coded truth. I’d like to learn this too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jeff.

We all tell dibs, no denying that, but I’d rather say nothing than actually lie, though my husband argues that’s lying by omission

I find it difficult too say mum but I think it’s a better policy than to tell a fib. Thanks for sharing Deb.

I lie occasionally, when necessary for my mental/emotional health. Other times I may simply omit things when answering a question and/or exaggerate for effect. I am a fiction writer after all! 😂

Haha, exaggeration isn’t lying, is it? 😅😅😅

I do lie…when being honest could be hurtful and being quiet is not an option.

I often speak truth and it becomes difficult for me and people consider me rude.Great post ❤. And it is also true that sometimes we should not speak truth right at the face if it can hurt somebody…

We as a society don’t have what it takes to listen to the unvarnished truth. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Laiba

I think like a lot of others, it depends. Like if I could be honest with how I felt about the transphobes on Twitter, I’d get myself banned, lol. I find as I get older though, I don’t have time to lie about important things anymore. It’s a time waster. But little white lies, and if the truth could be harmful, I will watch what I say.

I, like many, tell little white lies to spare feelings at times. I TRY to be as honest as possible but there are times I feel the need to protect those I care about from undue stress or pain. But they are all just little fibs.

Telling the whole truth can be hurtful at times. It’s better to save their feelings and our relationships with fibbing a little. Thanks for sharing Leigha

Well said and a very tricky question to answer it. But more than to others one should be truthful to oneself first.
