March 7, 2022, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about a robotic writer. Is it an analogy or a battery-operated i-writer? Is it possible? What will happen if robots write? Go where the prompt leads!
➰➰➰
Araaggh…., Frustrated, I deleted the words which my over smartphone was inserting in my sentences, again.
It’s a quandary writing on my phone. Spellings have always been my weakness so I’ve turned autocorrect on my settings. But smartphones have become overly smart nowadays. While they do spot my spelling mistakes, they simply butcher the proper nouns I write. Poetry, as I write, is another thing that is not acceptable. It needs to insert punctuations in there.
If I let the robotic writer, my smartphone write by itself, it’ll be gibberish that will amuse you no end, but grammatically correct!

I will do so Cindy. You should read some of my comments, totally strange because at the last moment my phone changes what I was writing.

Lol! Yup! If you have a smart phone, you can write something by just typing in the next word it suggests. It makes an interesting read. Seldom makes sense. 😂😂😂

Yes. Have tried it for fun. 😀

I am the same. I turn off all autocorrecting on everything. I will allow some suggestions though. I would rather look up spellings myself 👍👍👍 And I am terrible at spelling and puncuation

I’m okay at punctuation but I make many spelling mistakes. Thanks Jim for sharing.

Those auto texting on the phone can sure mess things up. Mostly they are funny, and I only text my daughters, so we laugh. It would be a bad thing if it was for business work though. 🙂

Very true. What I hate most of all is that when a type a couple of letters, it shows me options and when I want to click on the one I want, it quickly changes it something else! Like it’s teasing me. 😅😛

Such a wonderful response to the prompt. I don’t use autocorrect simply because of what you said, it even ‘autocorrects’ nouns and writings in local languages. 😅

Haha, yes it’s funny and frustrating at the same time.

Yes. It helps quite a lot and frustrates too, all depending on the language chosen and a few more other writing tactics. It’s agreeably so. 👍

Poetry doesn’t need to be spelt correctly 😉

I know, neither does it have to have punctuations

I don’t even give Autocorrect a chance: I turn off spell checkers and Autocorrect the minute I start working with a new device.

There are times when autocorrect does its thing, and it makes no sense to me.

Not have a “smart” anything, I don’t run into this particular problem…though I have other tech-issues 🙂 I’m not sure I want robots doing anything…I’ve watched too many science fiction programs 🙂

I think the more technology progresses, there are more problems for us.

That’s so true. Happens to me all the time. I’m amazed at how often I have to delete a word or phrase when I’m on my phone. Autocorrect has a mind of its own. I’m convinced.

I turned autocorrect off on mine as it gave me such a headache, specially if I type things in my language.

It “looks artificial”. Autocorrect is not always correct. 😲

I can relate to your frustrations, Sadje. I use a laptop for my posts and I have Grammarly. While it catches my mistakes, it doesn’t understand poetry. Sigh.

Yes, for any app to understand poetry, we have to perhaps write nursery rhymes. Thanks Eugenia

Even the most achomplished spellers have issues with ‘auto correct’. I once gave a book as a give that was filled with ‘auto correct’ gaffs!

I do find them occasionally… Blame the editor or the printer, not the author 😉
