Zipper- A 99 words story

Is there any way that you could’ve kept quiet?” My friend asked in desperation.

“What did I say wrong?” I was in full defensive mode, knowing that I could have kept my mouth shut and saved embarrassment to both of us.

Sally, you knew that I was trying to be diplomatic and let Cathy down gently and you had to tell her that we were planning to go to the party without her. I do wish I could invent a zipper for your mouth to stop you from blurting out every secret that I share with you!”

“I’m sorry!”

          1. Not really, I suspect. I believe “chatting”–including sharing info about others–was her way of being friendly. However, it’s a question whether people were actually friends with her, or more like casual acquaintances. Probably just took her as she was and didn’t share their own info.

  1. Not only do some folks not know how to keep secrets, some don’t have any filter – and often their abrasive words rub folks the wrong way. Sadly enough, with such family members… one has to bite one’s tongue often.
