I could have made my fortune and found Fame too
If only I had acted upon only one of the schemes
That kept on percolating in my brain as I was growing up
The super sharp inventor who thought of ideas before anyone else
Or that innovator who provided services before you felt the need
That famous painter or the best selling author
If only I had the gumption to stick to one plan and carry it through
But the scatterbrain that I was, didn’t stick to any one idea
And in the end, I neither have fortune nor fame

My husband always has great ideas with no big follow through plans. I have heard him say so many times – “I thought of that years ago. We could have been rich by now!” I always smile and carry on. Lovely post.

Thanks Maggie! I think a bit of day dreaming is not bad!

I feel this deeply.
If only I could stick to writing one story, I could finish one. Bu the scatter rain that I am I jump back and forth between 5 or 6 and can never finish one before starting another.

It is great to dream, I think. And, perhaps all the successes one hopes for is not the best things for one.
For some reason your lovely musings reminds me of a quote often by the Dalai Lama:
“Sometimes not getting what one wants is a great stroke of luck.”

What always stopped my plans for a business is the capital and equipment required. And then the actual know how…of taking that dream to reality.
Add other people who “rain on your parade” and somehow deep inside of you, you see it’s not possible…becuase those other people are apparently “experts”
Love your reminder..

Often we stop our own progress by self doubts. Do what you want and feel that you can.

I’d rather know a “Jack of all trades” than a ‘master’ of one. They are far more interesting and, I suspect, happier people. 😉

Master of one is somewhat limited in knowledge. A Jack of all trades is a good asset.

Thanks a lot Lauren. I like being liked, but fame isn’t my cup of tea.

Real question, do you have happiness? For that is way more important than fame and fortune

I think it is pretty normal as kids to bounce from one idea to the next… if only we could carry those ideas we had through to our adult life when we could maybe do something with them. Good SOC Sadje!
