From a young age, Janie was beset with excessive worrying which was taking a toll on her studies and relationships with her family and friends.
As she grew older the complications grew. Her mom suggested seeing a therapist for her excessive anxiety but she was offended at the idea. Things came to a head when she had a baby. Combined with the worries of a first-time mom, postpartum depression, and anxiety, she just wasn’t able to cope.
Finally, it was her husband who convinced her to seek treatment and eased her worries about the stigma attached to mental health.

What a compelling story. Sometimes it takes the effort of those around us to ease our burdens and make us have a fresh turn, as in Janie’s case. Amazing!

Indeed my friend it does take the effort of family and friends to make someone see that they need help. Self denial is the default reaction in mental health issues.

I agree. Everyone, at least at some point in life, needs the support of another person. What a wonderful expression of reality. I’m touched positively.

Well written, Sadje. It’s a bravery to cope but equally as brave to ask for help when needed. KL ❤️

Compelling. I’m glad she had courage and support to seek help. Anxiety is a big deal. And it often coexists with other mental health issues. It is not a sign of weakness and should never be ignored.

Totally agree with you Gypsy. It should be treated as it can lead to other issues

This write sits in my heart, as the stigma attached to mental health is profound in this country, and seeking assistance for mental health considerations is always a wise choice. I’m glad the character in this story sought assistance.

It is one of the overlooked problems as most people don’t know it can be treated or that it can be debilitating if left untreated. Thanks

Sadje you are so right about the stigma of mental health. Often it gets to a point where the person literally can’t function and something extreme happens before they seek/get help.

Anxiety is a serious thing, it can cripple. And the stigma about anything related to mental help makes it all worse. Good post, Sadje.

So true . My grandfather had demensia , I saw him begging and anticipating his own understanding . Cause if you are mentally ill , you die each day against your own existence . And if you’re using something daily, that for sure needs a repairing . Nothing’s wrong with it . Your post reminded me of him. Thank you 💗.

I am so glad that the erstwhile stigma that used to be associated with speaking to a professional has changed over the last couple of years and we have a more accepting society. True, it will take a long time for things to change completely but we are on the right track.

Very true Parikhit. The problem lies more with people themselves who always think what others will think!!!

It can be hard to overcome that stigma, causing more suffering. You caught (and broke) that cycle in your story, Sadje!

I am glad she finally started to come to terms and to get some help. These 99 words say a lot about anxiety over time and a person’s reluctance to admit and seek treatment.

Thanks D! I agree with you that anxiety makes the person more reluctant to seek treatment sometimes.

Anxiety can come into our life for many reasons. Especially something life changing like having a baby. What helps me to cope is prayer. 1 Peter 5:7-While you throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.

Very right Shonnie! Put your prayers out there helps us a lot.
