Wishes do come true

She got married straight out of college and didn’t get a chance to go abroad for her post-graduation as she had always wanted. Then her baby arrived and becoming a mother made life too hectic and busy.

But when she saw her old classmates posting on Facebook about going to high-ranking universities for further education, she also wished she had the chance.

Then her life took a sudden turn. She was again single and returned to school for getting another degree. This path led to her going to a prestigious university, and passing with honors.

She got her wish!

Written for Carrot Ranch prompt; January 24, 2022, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about “the wish I made.” Whose wish is it and how does it fit into the story? What kind of wish? Go where the prompt leads!

This is my first attempt to write a story in 99 words. I hope it makes sense.

  1. I thought I’d left a comment on this post before now…

I remember reading of older adults who attained degrees later in life. I admire those folks who have that drive and deterimination. While I graduated a two year community college – I just don’t think it is a route I would choose to take. And I laud those who do, those who even try, but also mostly those who succeed. 🙂
