This week Fandango asks;
What do you do to reduce or relieve stress in your life?
As Fandango said in his post, stress is everywhere. And there would be very few people who aren’t experiencing stress in their lives right now.
I have different strategies to relieve or reduce my stress;
Take any practical steps that I can to improve the cause of stress.
If the stress is due to a transient situation, try to deal with it and if it is of a permanent type, try to think of ways where I can reduce it by modifying my behavior or asking others to modify theirs. This includes stress created by behavioral, or financial issues.
Try to relax by thinking of good things, reading a book or watch a movie.
Diverting the mind is a good trick to lessen the stress. Something that takes us out of our own situation, even momentarily, relaxes us .
Playing with my smaller grandkids or if they aren’t around, chat with them on video call.
It is a well known fact that playing or working with children, often help us put things in their proper perspective. Besides the love always makes the heart open up and releases the stress.
Playing games on my phone, coloring on app or even a coloring book.
I do this every day as a part of my relaxing activities. A pleasant hour or so of mindless activity helps me relax quite a bit.

Walking;
Walking is my remedy to many of the issues I have. It improves both my mental and physical health. And listening to music while walking is the best way to enjoy both.
The simple reality is that most of the things that stress us are out of our control and worrying about them only makes things worse. So try to distract your mind, entertain it, or engage it in activities that make you forget the worries.

Yes, that’s very true. But it’s not always possible to meet them in person.

Good suggestions, but as you noted, most of the things that cause me stress are out of my control, so anything that distracts me from those stress-inducing things help.

Thanks Fandango! Yes, most of it is out of our control. Distraction is the best strategy here.

It sure is and tastier too. But I am already too full with all my overindulgence in the past that I cannot take this delicious path!

They are great ways of relieving stress, and you are right we do stress about things we cannot control.

Thanks a lot Diana. It is a built-in habit for many to worry about things that are out of our control.

Walking does it for me. Even a very short walk does wonders. I am not sure why…but I’ll take it.

I think walking is symbolic of getting away from our troubles.

Yes, as soon as we get time to think, the stress level goes up. Better be busy. Thanks Rory.

Great post, Sadje! To deal with stress: I keep my favorite music going all day; do “therapeutic” cooking; email with my best friend; Love jigsaw puzzles–I can stay up all night working on one; and I read my Bible 🙂

Beautiful post here Friend. Through the hustle and bustle of life and the desire to do everything, we end up wearing ourselves out. For stress, I recommend a few things. First, start by putting God first, and begin your day with a prayer to God and a heart for God. God is able to orchestrate several things and he can use divine assistance to make our day easier. Second, we need to treat our body like a temple. Energy giving foods are a great resource. Thirdly, we need to take little breaks every now and then to refresh.
The most important of these is God. When things get tough, we can always reach out to him for help.
The Bible says in Philippians 4:6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”.
God says in Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
If anyone reading is interested in building a relationship with God, I have a post on that here: https://christcenteredruminations.wordpress.com/2018/08/29/how-to-build-a-relationship-with-god/
There is much more to know about God. I post frequently on my blog about topics related to God. You are welcome to follow my blog to keep up with my content. See my blog here: https://christcenteredruminations.wordpress.com/
-All the best. May God bless you.
