You cannot be happy all the time but
You can have joy residing in your heart, always
You think happiness and joy are one and the same
There is a slight but significant difference between the two
Joy is the feeling that lives deep in the soul
It endures the trials and troubles of our daily lives
While happiness is its outward expression, coming and going
Try to find joy in your existence and hold onto it
Happiness will find you if you hold on to the joy

Well said Sadje. And may joy be full even when happiness empties its cup.

You make a good point, Sadje. Glad to say I feel Joy every day, even in sadness. It’s there if you look for it. Just look to nature.

I think that if you are a total brainless idiot, that you can be happy all the time, but most people can’t.

No one can be happy all the time Jim. But we can have the feeling of joy inside our hearts which makes bearing the burdens of loss and hardships easier.

You are so wise, Sadje. This distinction is a profound one. I completely agree with you. When people can get this truth, it can transform their life.

Thank you Jeff. I recently read an article that cleared the distinction between the two.
