My idea of an indulgent breakfast was to start with a glass of fresh orange juice, followed by eggs and toast, and coffee or tea to finish it off.
This was when drinking juice was thought to be better than having the whole fruit.
But scientists change their minds quite frequently and they came out with this new advice, eat the fruit, all of it. It’s better than just the juice as it contains a lot of benefits when eaten whole.
So though sometimes I indulge myself with a glass of freshly squeezed oranges and kinnos, I mostly eat the fruit whole. This has the advantage of more fiber more vitamins and due to the presence of fiber, its glycemic index is lower too, which means it won’t make your blood sugar spike!

I ordered some yesterday but they are rarely as tasty as I want them to be. I love fruits and juices.

That is so true. If you can find, try kinnos. They are the best.

Thanks Suzette! I think kinnow is a hybrid of orange and tangerine. It’s the best citrus.

I almost believe I could not live without a glass of orange each day!
I will say I have little faith in what science says because they change their mind every day about this and that, plus they are not united with their so-called results, it is whatever suits their lifestyle or worse agenda.

🙂 I am yet to come across someone who does not like orange juice. It is delicious, refreshing and very good for you.
Do enjoy the rest of your day, Sadje.

I like fruit juice but I most often buy fruit. I love oranges, bananas, plums, grapes, apples, and pears.

Same here. If I want juice, I make it myself, fresh.

So true! The whole foods are the best foods.

I think so too. Why throw away the rest of the goodness which remains after we extract the juice!

Oranges and it’s kin are seasonal in my country and in the end of winter our markets are flooded by them. People consume lots of oranges, kinnos, tangerines etc.

So right about scientists changing their minds, Sadje. First something’s good for you, then no it’s not, then, well maybe it is, lol. While I enjoy juices now and again, like you, I prefer to eat mine 🙂

Yeah, confusing to say the least. Drinking the juice is easier but the fruit is healthier.

I’ve looked kinnos up before I came to your response to Suzette. We have similar cross-bred citrus here too – sweeter and easier to peel. I often use segments in summer salads.

Yes, they are a hybrid, carrying the good qualities of their parents.
