Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

Today my question is;
How absent minded are you?
The other day I was frantically searching for my phone. It suddenly occurred to me that since I was talking to my husband at that moment, my phone was in my hand! 😛
These oops moments are fairly common for me. I make a ritual of taking my meds at night so that I remember that I took all the meds. But even then I wonder later if I took my night meds or not! I feel that it’s not forgetfulness but absent-mindedness. I do things instinctively and my conscience brain doesn’t register them.
What about you; Do you forget things are are you absent-minded? Or perhaps preoccupied?
Please share your thoughts in the comments section or you can write your own post and link it to this one so that I can find it.
Thanks for visiting and reading.

I’m pretty obsessive about making lists and having plans, so I don’t normally forget or misplace things. It does happen occasionally and then I get very upset…

Like most people my age I do think of something only to have it leave my mind as soon as it appears😳🙄😂

I sometimes put something somewhere I am sure I’ll remember later… Then I end up wondering where I put it and flip my whole place trying to look for it🤦♀️😅😂

Yup, we think we’ll find it easily because we’ll remember where we have kept it “safely “ only to forget! Thanks for sharing Ebar

It’ll take pages and pages for me to elaborate on my absentmindedness. I’ve lost countless wireless headphones and glasses, I forget to lock the door, I cook without turning the gas on, and I zone out in the middle of a conversation.

I’m only as absent-minded as the lack of sleep I’m dealing with! lol

Good question. I’d say I’m pretty absent minded, mostly by being distracted by everything. Oh yes, I did the ‘did I take my night medicine’ just the other night. It gets so repetitive that we do it without even thinking about it. I do have a clipboard with paper and write down each and every time so I’ll know I did take it, but sometimes I still get the feeling I didn’t! haha 🙂

I was thinking that those pill boxes with days marked on them would be good too Keep track. Thanks for sharing Barbara

I can certainly understand your medication problem . As a young un, I was on very important medication, and could never remember with absolute certitude whether I took it though I could always remember having drunk the water I needed with it

I too remember drinking the water. 😀 Thanks Larry. How are you?

Hahaha! I’ve done something just like that before. I think we’ve talked about this before too, yet it’s been a while. I think that when we get super focused and present to what we are engaged with, that other things tend to not exist. This happens to me quite a bit. Good thing I have lots of awesome people around me! 😅😄

Haha having phone in hand and looking for the phone- universal and timeless 😌
These days, it happens so much with masks- having a mask on and still looking for it. But that may be only me, because my absent mindedness is unbeatable.

Oh I do that too. And reading glasses on top in my head and I’m looking for them everywhere. 🤪

I have always been a little absent minded, but it got worse when I had my breast cancer… they call it chemo brain. And now of course I have fibromyalgia (fibro fog) and some of the medicine I take can make you a little more forgetful. So, there are days I really have a hard time with the right word or remembering times … I keep notes and set alarms. You do what you have to.

I have a horribly short attention span, so I wander off track all the time. Strangely enough though, if something must get done I power through it

That means that you have the ability to concentrate when you have to. I think I’m probably the same. It’s only even I have free time that I get Confused.

I’m constantly misplacing stuff forgetting whether or not I did something, or walking into a room/opening a door (to fridge for example) and then forgetting what it was I was doing.

Welcome to the club. I would not call it being forgetful, but rather over stimulating of brain. Too many thoughts to distract us. Thanks for sharing
