The heart desires things disguising them as needs
Minds are easily swayed because they cannot be wise all the time
Where lies the balance?
Where do we draw the line?
Or is it even possible to make the right choice always
Often the wallet is the decider between the two
We spend where we easily can, abstain where we can’t
Need and want, distinguished by the power of money

True that. Money dominates. Loved the straight forward way of expression.

I wanted a new bed, because the one I was sleeping in was very old, so I told myself that I needed a new bed and I just bought one.

That’s what we do, justify our wants by logic.

as a minimalist my needs are few, I have more than I need now 🙂

This is a good topic. I think we can “need” ourselves into debt when it’s truly wants that put us there. The hubster came up with a new word for getting needs and wants mixed up: nants.:-)

Haha! Nants sounds just right. A bit of crazy thrown in.

A great distinction, Sadje. It’s actually quite important to understand this distinction in order to save the money in the wallet! Great write, my friend.

I remember trying to teach my daughter the differences between needs and wants and there is definitely a lot of middle ground that gets muddled. Good post Sadje!

Thanks Leigha. Teaching this difference to kids is very challenging.

Too true Sadje, if the expense can’t be justified, then it ain’t worth it
