Sunday Poser # 57

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

We have a whole galaxy of blog titles. Some are simply named after the blogger and others hold an aura of mystery. Sometimes we don’t even know the name or handle of the blogger and have no way of addressing them by name unless we want to call them by their blog name!

My blog is called, “Keep it alive” and my blogging moniker is Sadje. Though Sadje is not my real name, it’s close to my real name and gives something to others to address me by.

I titled my blog Keep it alive because I had seen too many women of my age , empty nesters who weren’t doing much with their lives. Just existing, not living with gusto. I wanted to inspire them to live fully, and hence the name.

This is the story behind my blog name/ title. What is yours?

Please share your thoughts in the comments section or you can write your own post and link it to this one so that I can find it. Thanks for visiting and reading.

  1. Well, I began using “Paula Light” as my writing and screen name back in the late 1990s, so all my site names followed the “light.” Leitmotif means a recurrent theme in music and writing, so it made sense to play off that with “light motifs” when I created a new blog. I do have many ongoing themes…

  2. I had a stroke in 2007 that crippled my right hand and arm, so I adapted and type with one hand. When it came time to name the blog, I remembered the old Zen koan “What is the sound of one hand clapping?” and I had the name for my blog.

  3. Clever, Sadje! And very inspiring and positive for others. For me, it was a play on the word writer but also, setting the tone for the content. It confidently reinforces my identity and informs potential readers they can expect to get to know me. Great question!

  4. I live in the Australian bush not in a town or city hence bushboy. My blog is bushboys world as I like to share the beautiful region I live in as well as my own property in photos. You won’t find many words I let my photos do the talking.

  5. Ah, that makes total sense, thanks for sharing that about your blog, Sadje. Develop, inspire, and transform are all part of a personal mission I hold to always stay present to creating change within myself each day, first, and then change in the community, and elsewhere…that’s the story behind my blog sites name. ☺️

  6. When I started blogging, I titled my blog “One Poem A Day”. This was back when I joined the WordPress daily prompts. I changed it later on when I was feeling the strain of daily posts and when my work was hindering from posting daily.

Maria is what my dad calls me (for some reason) and my mom calls me Michaela just cause she likes that name. Neither names are close to my real name but I used it as my pen name as a sort of homage to my parents. 🙂

    1. Oh I see. And yet I’ve seen people addressing you as Pam here too. In fact I used to call you Pam before I knew you are Deb. Sorry if that was irritating. Thanks for sharing my friend

  7. Well my blogging name is blindzanygirl, and that is because I am VERY zany in real life, but also I am blind. So my blog is xalled Blind Wilderness because I went blind gradually following cancer, and when you go blind you find yourself in a wilderness without any signposts. I love doing my blog, though it is getting a bit harder now.

  8. My blog name came as a necessity.
I never planned to write short stories. I simply got my WordPress to help sell my books. I created a full platform based on my special sleuth’s restaurant. Then it all blew up in my face. my publications went wrong along with everything I tried to do with the books. I couldn’t stand failing Holly and visibly seeing her every day and so I removed everything I had about her. That’s when I needed a new name and found Menagerie as it has the same first letter as Mason and gave me a new identity. Along with that I was introduced to all the wonderful prompters like yourself Sadje and my website was reborn as something a lot different and more functional.

    1. I think Holly is just lurking in the sidewings. She’ll be back when you gradually start selling your books. Already 2 are in the market. Meanwhile, you’re doing an excellent job of entertaining us with your wonderful story telling talent. Thanks for sharing Mason.

  9. Such an interesting story behind your name. You’re definitely going to inspire many women with that name- I’ve seen far too many lousy middle aged women who live only for their families and not the slightest for themselves to know you’re absolutely right!
