Going out with friends for lunch used to be our fun outing before covid. I have a few very close friends that I would meet for lunch or brunch once a month. But with covid, all meetings were suspended. We would talk to each other on phone, but having a meal together was a strict no-no.

Finally, when we all got vaccinated, and the government relaxed the restrictions for people who had been vaccinated, we got together for a lunch date. There was so much to talk about that the food was almost sidelined.

Almost but not completely.

We all are after all fond of eating and it is the city of Lahore where we live, which is famous for its variety of food. The situation in our country concerning covid is not stable. Sometimes we are allowed to dine in the restaurants and sometimes just outdoor dining is allowed. I still try to meet my friends so that we can all get away from our families and have a good heart-to-heart talk session.

I think eating out with good friends is a wonderful way to connect. What do you think?

  1. I agree with you on the conversation over meals and sometimes drinks. I used to go out quite a bit with various friends or family before covid. Now once a month usually with a friend. We did go out to an outdoor jazz concert about a month ago. Also I went out riding bikes with a group of people and we had some decent conversation along the path. I miss the human connection.

  2. Sharing meals with our friends and loved ones is a treat indeed. That’s one joy that the pandemic has stolen from us for a long time. Now that the restrictions are being eased, we have started venturing out but sadly, most of our friends and family are miles away from us in another state.
