Melanie is the host of SYW

QUESTIONS
When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
I think it will be a 40-60 split. More talk and less work. That’s a problem with gabbers. We talk more and that takes up a lot of our time. I have done a lot, and am going to do more but yes, I will talk even more than that!
What does the world need less of?
Dishonesty, bigotry, racism, cruelty, injustice…….. It’s a very long list. The first step is always to start from yourself.
Do you feel older or younger than your age?
I feel younger. I think I look younger too as all the adipose tissue beneath the skin results in fewer wrinkles. But when I think I’ll be 60 in November, I feel that it’s not real.
What is a cause you’ll always passionately support?
Social justice. I really feel that we all need to speak up when there is injustice or inequality.
And right now, telling people to pull the mask to cover their nose. It’s a daily routine now that I’ll tell people wearing masks on their chins that they shouldn’t bother for it’s not serving any purpose.
GRATITUDE SECTION (as always, optional)
What is your personal affirmation if you have one? (for this instance “affirmation means emotional support or encouragement.” )
I tell myself when things aren’t that rosy (or peachy) that they could always be worse. We need to look at the positives first as they are way more than the negatives. By the time we are done counting the positive blessings, we won’t have time or inclination to count the negatives in our lives.

Many thanks dear Melanie for posing such interesting questions each week.

I need not answer these questions as I would answer exactly as you have except for the age. I have 14 years on you there. Yikes. Well done with your answers.

I agree with you Sadje, that one needs to speak out against social injustice. Sometimes others need others to speak out for them.
Great answers to some intriguing questions.

Indeed, we all need to speak up, or write against injustice and other ills of our society. The weak need champions. Thanks 🙏🏽

Thanks Cheryl. I usually tell them that since it’s not doing anyone any good, they need not bother. Many are shamed into pulling it up.

Thank you for sharing, Sadje. Always so lovely to read this posts. Completely agree with the talking versus activity, me too! Completely and wholeheartedly agree with your answers to what the world can use less of, and your passion, social justice. And, of course, I always love the gratitude sections. Is splendid, my friend.

I’ve read quite a few bloggers responses to Melanie’s question. The funny thing is that almost all of them could be my answers too. Nice job my friend.

I’m definitely with you being a talker. My percentage is more 80% talk, though.

Every time I hear in my brain “it could be worse,” the next time I look — it’s worse. I no longer say ANYTHING that could be regarded as an invitation to some kind of jinx. However bad things may be, they CAN always be worse and thinking about it may — for all we know — be the setting point for worse.
I used to talk a lot. Now, I don’t talk much. There are any number of reasons, but the biggest and most painful one is that most of the people to whom I used to talk are gone, either far away mentally, far away physically, or dead. Thinking about it doesn’t improve it any.
The best I can say is that I did what I could when I was able. It was NOT enough — but then again, neither were all the powers of several really GOOD presidents and a lot of other important, wealthy, well-intentioned people. I never had any real power and I never sought any. Maybe that’s the bottom line? To make things happen, you need power. And I don’t have any.

Haha! That saying could jinx things for sure, that’s why I only think it and not say it aloud!
As for doing what we can to do improve our sphere is possible, we spread a bit of kindness, smile, listen to someone in pain or trouble and we make a difference in our own way.

Thanks, Sadje, for Sharing Your World! Wonderful, positive answers to all these questions! Great job! 😀 I loved your affirmation (borrowed it for a future time, hope that’s okay) as well as your banner image. That will definitely feature in an upcoming SYW (with credit to you of course). You have such a lovely balanced perspective. It’s been said that everyone speaks a lot more than they act, and I think that’s true across the board. We have good impulses, but few follow through on them. But as you mentioned to Marilyn, even a nice smile can change someone’s day from bad to good, we never know whom we impact on our journey. Have a splendid week!

Oh thank you so much Melanie. It’s a pleasure to participate in SYW. Wonderful questions. You’re right that majority of people say way more than what they do. But we have to keep on trying. Thanks
