Sunday Poser # 45

Welcome to another Sunday Poser

This week my question is very basic;

Why do you blog?

We all have started our blogs for different reasons. Some have done to further develop their talents as writers or poets. While others have done so just to express their views and thoughts.

I started my blog exactly three years ago. It was an impulsive decision but gradually it grew into a way to express me.

I find that writing/ blogging is a way to keep my mind sharp. I need to find words to express my thoughts. I check on spellings and the proper grammatical usage of the words I am writing.

It also is a way where I say what I want to say. In a world where most people are too busy to give time to each other, this blogging community is generous and kind. They read each other’s thoughts and stories and respond with their own.

It is also my therapy. I share my thoughts and worries here and find that others have similar concerns. By spending $100 a year, I get very good supportive therapy.

Blogging also gives me a direction in life. I now have a constructive purpose for all the empty hours I had at my disposal. If any one of my posts can cheer even one of my readers, my purpose is realized.

And lastly, but certainly not the least is the encouragement and appreciation that I receive here. It makes me so happy to read the positive feedback left in comments on my posts.

These are the reasons why in blog!

What are yours?

Please share your thoughts in the comments section or write your own post and link it to this one so that I can find you.

  1. A lovely reason to have started blogging! Sometimes, decisions we make out of whim end up being the most fruitful! 😉 I’m glad it worked out for you. For many, it doesn’t and they quit soon enough.

  2. 🙂 I blog because:

    • It is a medium that allows me to express myself.
    • To pass on what I have learned to others.
    • To entertain others.
    • It is a form of self-discipline.

The question of why do we blog keeps popping up in the blogosphere.

Do enjoy the rest of your day, Sadje.

  4. First, if I may, all of your posts provide your readers cheer, and much more, Sadje. Second, blogging began as a way to express myself at a time when I was looking for new avenues to do so; I could never have imagined though, how that initial desire to express myself would have led me to where my blog is today. I love it more and more each day; and am eternally grateful for people, like you, Sadje, who are now in my life. It is so beautiful, and I feel grateful every day. I can’t wait to see what this next year brings! 💙 Thanks for the prompt, my friend.

    1. Many thanks my friend for your kind words of encouragement. It’s indeed a journey of growth and self discovery. I am glad that we connected on WP. Mind which think alike are not common. Thanks again

  5. My very first post was to announce a new book and just to establish the blog. I wasn’t really sure where it was going to take me but the title of it was an indication of what I wanted it to represent. Like for you, it’s become a bit of a “therapeutic tool”, but it’s also a vehicle to let people know me better. It’s been an interesting journey these last (almost) four years and I look forward to seeing what it evolves into!

  6. I love your reasons! I started blogging as a way to cope with my Mother’s health issues that led to her death. Now I blog for therapeutic reasons, and to express my creativity! I’ve been away for a weed while, but I’m planning on blogging more regularly, again.

  7. Sadje, I love the many challenges that blogging brings. I have met so many different and like minded people who challenge my thinking. I have developed many skills I wouldn’t have if I didn’t blog. It fills hours with creative fun rather than just fun.

  8. I started my blog for a few reasons…
    1. I thought I could turn it into a side hustle.
    2. I like getting my thoughts out here (despite I only have 2 posts)
3 I wanted to feel apart of a large community that genuinely wants to build each other up.

  9. I started blogging three months back. I had my write ups ready with me since long (since school days), as I was waiting for them to get published. However, I created my own blog and started posting them. I blog as I like literature and love to write. It gives me a medium to voice myself.
Besides, I liked your reasons too. It surely gives us a feel good therapy in the process of sharing and receiving thoughts.

  11. I blog because writing about my Ocd and finally not being embarrassed by it helps me to deal with it better. I also am trying to spread awareness on mental health issues especially OCD because it is often so misunderstood. I have received such wonderful feedback from this blogging community which encourages me to write and share more. And finally, I blog in hopes that what I have to say will help someone else that is suffering by letting them know they are not alone. 💖

  12. I write to get thoughts out of my head… at least that was my original plan. Now it is a challenge or a discipline to write daily. I remember an English teacher in school who said that is the best way to improve your writing – practice, practice, practice.
