WritePhoto # Portal

KL Caley is the host of WritePhoto

Welcome to the weekly #writephoto prompt!

This week’s prompt is a post with a difference – our August guest photo!

Portal – Image by Rebecca M. Douglass

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a puddle with leaves and trees reflected in the surface.

As I walked, avoiding the rain water in my way

Something glinted, sparkled like gems in my eyes

Looking towards the source of light, I found

That I was looking down at my own reflection

A little puddle of water on the road reflecting

The sky, the clouds, and trees around it

So much beauty concentrated in such a small space

Made me think how we pass ignorantly, the wondrous views

That nature has scattered all around us as a reminder

To look up, look around us and admire the world we live in

  1. That is so beautiful Sadje. A thought-provoking message too. My old college tutor once sent us on an assignment to walk around the city and take photographs either looking up or looking down – none were to be taken at eye level. The photo’s the class returned were stunning intricate carvings at the tops of buildings, doorway steps with the indentation of time, beautifully railings, a huge variety of beauty that is just often missed by the everyday eye.
Thank you so much for joining in the challenge:
