Fandango Flash Fiction- Out of control

Fandango is the host of Fandango Flash Fiction

Welcome to Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge.

The photo below is from A_Lesik at Shutterstock. For the visually challenged writer, the photo is of a group of firefighters who are attempting to get a wildfire under control.

➰➰➰

Flames climbing higher than high

Inferno raging out of control

Dry grass, devoid of moisture

Catching fire like tinder wood

Humans try to douse the fires

But the damage is done by years of abuse

Some of us are cognizant of the need

To practice environment-friendly ways

But there are others who don’t care at all

They are oblivious to our planet burning

In the wake of abuse and neglect heaped upon it

Wake up and smell the fumes of carbon

That are making life a hell on earth

  1. Some fires have purpose. In Australia fires are regularly caused by lightening. The bush rejuvenates after these as part of a natural cycle.
