Respond to this challenge, by either by using the prompt word wine, or going with the above picture, or by means of the song ‘Seasons in the Sun’, or by going with another song by Terry Jacks

I first listened to this song, Seasons in the sun, when I was in school, 6-7th grade. It was such a sad song yet for some reason it didn’t depress the listener. Even now, I love to hear it play. There were many other favorites from that era.
Country roads take me home, summer wine, and many like them. These were songs where the lyrics were simple, yet powerful. For us, non-English speaking people, these songs were easy to understand and sing along.
I struggle with modern-day songs, especially rap songs, where they sing so fast that I cannot for the life of me follow them, and singing along is out of the question.

Simple always works for me Sadje. What is your first language?

Urdu! Though our teaching language is English but still we aren’t that good as those born to it.

That language looks very difficult with all of those strange looking characters.

Haha! Yup, even our kids when they start reading and writing Urdu are confused. It’s not like English that each alphabet reta it’s original shape even in joined handwriting. In Urdu, the alphabets change shape according to where they are used. It’s written form I’d derived from Arabic. But it’s a wonderful language, with a wealth of expression!

I always liked that song, but when I actually paid attention to the words, it was so sad. 🙂

The words are sad, but they don’t pull you down.

I rarely understand a word of rap or hip-hop. Maybe it is an age thing.

Yeah, that could be it. 😹💜😜

I totally get that with music. I love music, and love to listen to the words along with the rhythm of the music. So inspirational. I also get understanding the lyrics; there are actually a lot of songs that I like, where I have to listen to them again and again to get the language; and there are also some, that I still don’t understand…Thanks for sharing, Sadje.

Thanks Jeff. As I said earlier, some rap songs and when the singer is too fast with delivery, they just fly over my head. I love songs where I can understand the lyrics and appreciate their meanings.
