Fandango Story Starter # 4

Fandango is the host of Fandango Story Starter

It’s time for my weekly Story Starter prompt. The purpose of the teaser is simply to spark your imagination and to get your storytelling juices flowing

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

I’d been planning the perfect vacation for months, but then…

I’d been planning the perfect vacation for months, but then something fantastic happened!

I won a free cruise in a draw and I could take a companion along with me. Now the question arose, who should I ask? My best friend, my cousin who was so found of adventure or my wife who wasn’t keen on traveling at all but was insanely jealous when I went away and had a good time.

Time was short so I played it safe. I asked my wife if she wanted to go on a vacation to the Maldives with me. I was super clever and made it sound like more of a drudgery than a luxury vacation. Sadly she is a very intelligent woman and caught on to me from the start.

We were due to travel on there 28th of February, 2020. But fate intervened and all traveling by sea was suspended because of the covid-19 epidemic breakout. I was promised that they would give me another chance as soon as the company started sea cruises again.

I’m still waiting. And this time my wife has categorically told me that she isn’t willing to expose herself to the risk of getting sick so I can take anyone with me. I can’t wait……..

    1. I did that because I felt a man was more likely to think like that. And I know men who would rather go with their friends than wives! Thanks Jim

  1. Hahaha. This reminds me of a story I heard about 6 months after the pandemic began across the globe, and people who were on cruise ships were unable to dock anywhere. The story related that there were people on one of the ships for a long time….scary.
